It's no big news for me to tell you about the different treatment the mainstream media extends the Bush and Kerry campaigns. Today's example: Terry Maculiffe, an obvious obsessive compulsive incapable of self-control, could no resist taking a cheap shot. When spinning low expectations for this Thursday’s debate, he said Bush performs extraordinary well in debates because he is often "dishonest." Had that same utterance come from Republicans, the media would be, like vultures, picking away. Truly disgraceful.

Another fine example today is Kennedy claiming that because of President Bush we are more likely too be attacked by terrorist using a nuke. If a republican said under a Kerry admin. we're more likely to be attacked by nukes, the mainstream media would flip their collective whig. Kennedy, the stute of limitations has not expired on Mary Joe's death. Arrest the bum!

Answer: No. The person who did take copies of "top secret documents" was Sandy Berger. The Commission found that he took no original documents and Berger has said the incident was inadvertant. He took copies that had his notes on them. Whether it was a "national security crisis" or "a regrettable mistake" falls right down party lines So far the US hasn't collapsed upon itself so I'm guessing it's the latter of the two. He will probably lose his security clearance over this as punishment.

This sounds like Bush in 2000 talking about Gore being a grand debater and lowering expectations for himself!!! But I don't remember the mainstream media picking away like vultures. In fact, they helped propogate the lower expectations for Bush!

Here's my opinion: Bush and Kerry both are known for debate abilities. Bush relies on charm, one-liners (fuzzy math anyone?), and keeping it simple. Kerry is a more classic style debater who can expound on a well of policy like Gore, but needs to keep it simpler (don't get wordy no matter what!). A poll I saw said 25% of the electorate said they could change their mind based on the debate. It's probably somewhat lower since "undecided" in the polls runs in the single digits, but Kerry is going to have to have a stronger debate than Bush. Why? Because a good portion of the electorate is just tuning in and now wants to know "Mr. Kerry what will the next four years be like under your administration?" That will be the question he will have to answer in the next 3 weeks.
