Lock-up when exiting game

Great game.... but I have to manually shut it down via CTRL-ALT-DEL. When I exit the game the screen goes black and..... nothing.

I have the store-bought game (patched from the Internet) and am running it on an Averatec C3500 using Windows XP Tablet edition.

Any suggestions?

What resolution are you running in? If it's changing resolutions to run in fullscreen, it may be running into trouble trying to change back.

You'll want to make certain that you have the latest sound and video drivers and DirectX. If your default resolution is lower than 1024x768 at 32 bit color you may want to increase it manually before running The Political Machine as not all drivers handle the resolution change well. If you are running in a resolution higher than 1024x768, you can try running in windowed mode by going into the Prefs.ini file in the data directory of Political Machine and setting WindowedMode=1. (If you are running at 1024x768, it will still appear fullscreen, but it will have initialized slightly differently, so it still may make a difference. But it'll be easier to shut down if it's in an actual window.)
