Lock up with ALS4000 Sound Card

My Advance Logic, Inc. ALS4000 sound card appears to lock up the game at the screen (looks like a portal/doorway) just after choosing start game.

Disabling the sound card cures the lock up.

Anyone run into this problem? Any Suggestions?

Yes, I have the most up to date drivers.
