How about the real story? That Bush was given the guard gig he had specifically as a favor and specifically to avoid combat, and he couldn't even stick that out for a whole tour. And that he has lied about this every time it has come up in his career in public life? Frankly, the original or copied document is a sideshow to the real story.
I'm just amazed at how otherwise intelligent people can be blind to HOW sleazy, how empty of character, and how greed-driven are the President and the overwhelming majority of the administration. How anyone can talk about this guy as "honest" is beyond me. It would be laughable if it weren't obvious what damage to the country this mistake has made and will make in the event of his reelection by systematically disinformed voters.
As a sideline, another ridiculous fantasy is this ongoing theme of a "liberal" media. Witness the Kitty Kelly tarring and feathering before anyone read the book or considered the layers of fact-checking and legal vetting the publisher (money-concerned, but also afraid for other reasons) had to put into its publication - by the media, but administered by the Bush administration. Big media is big money, and there's no wiggle room between the two. And the Bush family is, in its very essence, big money.
