Republican celebrities and Democrat celebrities.

I recently ready a thread wondering why Republicans are resorting to actors to get politicians. Let’s first look at the mentality of the two types of celebrities.

The Democratic leaning celebrities when ask to put their money where their mouth is are more willing to do so. Most will support a political point of view or their politician by giving money (or making money). Barbara Striesan, Michael Moore, Alex Baldwin, or Tim Robins are examples of theses types. Projects like F 9/11, rewriting history with the Showtime Reagan movie, or the failing Air America Radio Talk show shows how their belief that money, time, and press releases are how they influence politics.

The Republican leaning celebrities when asked to put up or shut up are more likely to respond that way. They are more ready to actually enter political arena. Sunny Bonneo, Thomas Thompson, Arnold Swartinhager, Ronald Reagan and even Charlton Hesston (Through NRA president) are examples.

When rubber meets the road Republicans Actors are more willing to put their feet into the fire. Is this good or bad? I’m not sure, I’m just pointing out a fact. But an example of Democrats not able to stand the political heat is Michael Moore deciding to write his article about the RNC for USA today two miles away from the RNC convention after the first day (must of been a real in-depth article).

My Two Cents.

The problem with the Republicans is that they are leaning too much on the little actors that are supporting them. I mean, G.W. Bush praising Arnold?? That had to be more of a 'Oh, I need your praise to win the election'.

Hey, at least the Democratic actors have sense. The Air America Radio isn't 'failing' as you are saying. It is actually expanding its network coverage. The F/911 movie has made more money than 'Dodgeball' or 'The Village' proving that the American people are listening. The Republicans control the news networks so why can't the Democrats control the radio and the movies???

Have you ever thought that maybe the Republicans just wanted to show emigrants that you can be from another country and not a Democrat? That there is an option to the same old you must go there because you are this. But you think the only reason Arnold spoke at the convention is because Reps are screaming "Oooh, we can't win this election without our Actor". Get real guy, sometimes people are successful and that’s why they are asked to speak.

The Air America Radio isn't 'failing' as you are saying.

Now they have only 26 stations. Remember they bounced those checks for the LA and Chicago stations and they were removed from two of the larges listening areas in the US. (By the way, whats up with paying stations to air the programing?) I think that's failing.

Ya, Dodgeball was a very tough competitor, not hard to be number one that weekend.

Weren't there actors, directors, and sons of famous Republicans at the DNC?

I like how to liberals, FOX News is the only news network worth mentioning.

Watch that video, its humorous (to a democrat I guess), but it may show you why michael moore left (around minute 1:15).

Like all recent politcal coventions, the whole event was staged to a narrow group of voters...namely the undecideds. The majority of the prime time RNC speakers except Chaney and Bush were very centrist Republicans who are often at odds with this so called passionate conservative administration. Arnold had name recognition and is moderate - that is the main reason he was chosen to speak I think. And hey, if he can grab a few minorities or immigrants (to vote for the exclusive mainly white male GOP)then all the better.
