Winning Strategy

Here's an almost unbeatabloe strategy for winning. Spend the first 23 weeks going around the country building 3rd level headquarters in all the big states and swing statest that you need to win. It takes a lot of money so you'll need to do a lot of fund-raising and pick a VP with lots of money. By week 23 your should be able to have 9 or 10 3rd level H.Q.'s bringing you about $900,000 a week. Don't even worry about the polls, don't give speeches and don't buy ads. When you run out of money though, use your stamina to give you political endorsements. After week 23 or so, when you have lots of 3rd level HQ's, put a webmaster in a key swing state, and use your weekly flow of money to unleash a killer T.V. advertising campaign. Your opponent won't be able to keep up with your spending. You'll start winning early on in the game, but start losing around week 15, but your ads should be able to turn that around before week 30. Consider taking a week off from ads to give speeches or raise funds while your weekly contributions build your warchest. I've done almost the whole Republican campaign using this strategy. You should end up spending over $30 mil by the end of the campaign.

Wow, that is a lot to do...I will try it....but Grant (Ulysses S.) keeps on getting all the endorsements by the time I've done all this stuff. Should I do it differently. Spend the first few weeks getting the endorsements...then spend 23 weeks building 3-level campaign Hdqt???

well maybe make 2 or 3 political capital each turn, and spend the rest on H.Q.'s.

I take a very similar approach. I stop building my hqs at week 20 and start with tv ad blitzes in two or three states until about week 32. With all the spending you have to do you easily have a chance to pick up an endorsement or two along the way. I also use consultants to get the large states up to 100 awareness before fundraising there. An early pair of intimidators can ensure that your opponent cant compete in a pair of large states. Between week 30 and the end of the campaign put smaller ads in close states and work on an endorsement. Place a few spin doctors or smear merchants in big close states. I end up spending around 35 million at the end of my campaigns.

3rd level HQ is the one that cost $1mil to upgrade?

yeah 3rd level HQs are expensive but they're definitely worth it. And follow xiaodave's suggestions, they're what i do except i was too lazy to type that much. thanks xiaodave.

well this is the same strat i posted about below, except the key thing is you need to slowly build political capitol. then select a very experienced vp, and get those key endorsements. because i dont care how many ads you have, if the other guy has the major endorsements, you are screwed

But the question is: what is the major endorsements??? Is the U.S. Chamber of Business or Environment more important. When Grant gets the Chamber of Business, he gets all the states behind him, while I just increase the leads in which I have. When playing Arnold, I received all of the endorsements, and all the states were behind me by election night...should this happen with Grant as well??
I lost from your strategy...and I'm afraid I lost from this strategy...I will try it again, but I need some way to beat Ulysses S. Grant......
I need some help. Please help me...

the endorsement that helps you on terror is good. the unions one will help you in Penn. and Ohio. Environment is good, especially in the west coast states. the civil rights one is also good
