hey, frogboy, going to respond here. how low end is a radeon igp 345m 64 mb? i tried downloading that driver update, but it gives me the message "setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. please make sure you have the required hardware or software."

Not to be a smart alek but doesn't the evidence seem to indicate that there's something with your system?  You have a RAdeon, you have WIndows XP right? But it won't install?

You have the Radeon IGP.  If ATIs own drivers won't install on your computer, and loading up a fairly unintensive strategy game causes your computer to go black and reboot, doesn't that indicate that something odd is happening?

The issue is your video driver. I can almost garuantee it.  If you can just get your graphics driver up to the latest version I suspect many problems will go away.

well one would think it is my computer. however, several other people have the EXACT same issue. also, i have played much more graphically intensive games on this computer. so please, stop trying to blame it on our computers, and realize that it is something with the game. trust me, this computer is not the problem. i have played madden 2004 on it, and several other highly demanding games (swg, etc). all had great performances. so it is the game. please stop being in denial about it. i know you are trying to help, and all i ask is progress reports or some such.

also, on another note, the [email protected] doesnt seem to work when i send it via hotmail. any ideas?

I have the same video card (Radeon IGP 345M) and the exact same problem when I tried to download the catalyst drivers. However, the problem is not with your computer or with Stardock; the problem lies with ATI, who refuses to support the video cards they put in laptops. To add to my own annoyance, the only Radeon IGP driver not supported by the catalyst drivers is the 345M...

Anyway, to get around the problem, go to www.omegadrivers.net. They'll have a special mod there that will work with ALL ATI Radeon drivers. Thanks to it, I can finally play the game!

Great tip Nate. (now Representative Nate!).

So Aaron, like I said, it was your video drivers being the problem.  Go to the URL Nate mentions www.omegadrivers.net and update them and you'll be able to play.

amazing, some guy (thanks nate) comes in and saves you. and you try to do the "i told you so" routine? thats very, VERY petty. you need to realize that we are not your equals; we are your bosses, because we support you. you need to treat your customers a lot better, and not merely by rude and snyde with them. this driver did work, and the game looks good; however i can tell you right now i will NEVER buy another game from ubisoft because of this experience. good job

What an asanine attitude. Dude, you bought a game for twenty bucks. My Pizza dinner tonight cost that same amount. I can't imagine giving the Pizza guy even have the crap you just dished out to them.

And you kept blaming them and blaming them for your problems. Spamming post to post about how the game was buggy and demanding a patch when the whole time, the advice they gave you, update your drivers, was ignored until finally someone else stepped up did what they suggested and proved you wrong.

I doubt anybody would want you as a customer.

Aaron: do you realize how ugly you sound? the game's designer went back and forth with you several times in lengthy posts trying to explain the cause of your problem only to have you arrogantly dismiss it and claim he was "delusional". and when you are proven wrong, do you apologize? no. you claim to be his boss and that they have bad support. how can you claim they have bad support? how many companies would provide you with such one on one service on a non-official support channel?

Not gonna lie, but shutup Aaron. Theres no reason to go off on people like that, you don't know them.
