A Vegatative State of Affairs

The root cause of Decay in America

Well it seems like a while now, no really it just seems that way because its been taking forever to reply to comments. Its evening and I've had a nice dinner, YES, I've watched some of the Olympics, finally. So overall the Monday hasn't been too bad. Its my feeling that there are those in America that would like for those who's opinions differ--to simply be quiet. I can understand the narrow minded jist of that, and I can understand that each night they crawl back into the primordial ooze they came from, but what I can't understand that people really like to point the finger even when they're even in the wrong....it's a majority rules thing, thus getting to my Monday Blog.........

Freedom of speech, in our constitution, yes? No? Now I believe that everyone has the right to pretty much say what they want to say, and I'm for the notion it's what our country was founded on. Lets fast forward to present time after the break off from England occupation....We are here, 2004. Are Americans really allowed to exercise their freedom of speech? To a degree, I'll submit that much, but remember Big Brother will be watching. So really yes we can say what we want, but at what cost? Will we be labled "Subversive?", or a "Non-Conformist?", or a "Bleeding Liberal?" Maybe, maybe not, only Big Brother knows along with the C.I.A.; N.S.A., F.B.I. if they don't resort to information hording and one upmanship. In reality we can say what we want, but at what price. There is always a price....this is America after all, we are a nation of excessive waste, everything cost something, and anything can be bought; just like O.J. Simpson's freedom. Ahem, back to the subject at hand. I've found that when you disagree with someone they usually respect that. Unfortunately in America there are those who can not stand someone having a difference of opinion, these usually are the people who are eating America from within.

I've found that people no matter their background, rich, poor, uneducated, educated, missing teeth; having teeth, some of the most closed minds are those of the average person. Unbelievable! I thought it would be the upper middle class who would mainly discourage individualism, because they would have the most to lose. It's sad that the Average Joe (No pun intended), would be that harsh to someone probably going through the same trials and tribulations that their going through. But alas, it's a strange world. Because the average citizen is trying to make it, and they've "Suffered and Paid their dues", that gives them the god given right to bring down fire and brimstone down on someone who has a difference of opinion. People, please, if the average citizen banded together and sought valid reforms in our country, we would be one step further than we are now.

We must remember that's what makes America great, the fact you can disagree. People don't hate someone because they're exercising their right. America is a melting pot, yes you may not agree with another's opinion, but remember it an opinion. I feel that we divide ourselves too often than not, when we can be making progress towards the future of our children and their children. After all we're not going to live forever, wouldn't it be nice if our childrens children didn't have to die in vain?

In closing, the decay in America is us, me included. Sometimes our emotions override our common sense. I always take a second look to see if I can make a change. Regardless of our government, we have control of only ourselves, wouldn't it be nice to maybe look at another opinion with an open mind? Let's at least for tonight try to love one another.
