Technical Issue: Poor performance first run, OK after...RAM?

The first time I start the game, it lags heavily...the mouse pointer skips and drags, and it's basically unplayable. If I exit the game and reenter, it's fine. RAM leak? System specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
896 MB RAM
nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 4400 v 61.77
Windows XP Pro
DirectX 9.0c

Does this happen everytime you first start political machine, or just the first time after you installed it? If it only happend after you installed it, then that's normal. There's some graphic processing done before the game starts up. Subsequent starts should be snappier.

Try inserting the CD first before you start the game, and then close the "Installer" Dialog that comes up. Now run Political Machine, and see if that helps.
