Retail Version: No CD Key

Hi,

I bought the retail version and it doesn't contain a CD key. This prevents me from registering with Stardock, so I can't download the updated manual, or I imagine any patches that are released. Since I am a paying customer, how can I get a cd key to gain full support of the program?

Thanks,
Rob

The manual PDF online is the same as the printed manual that came with the CD, so you're not missing anything there. Even includes the incorrect things, like the Local Interviews on page 23.

Updates will be available shortly in a standalone fashion. Ubisoft QA has to approve them at present.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Does that mean any updates to the game or manual can be downloaded without a CD key? Do you know if they will be on the UBI soft website then (since without a key we can't get updates through Stardock central)?

Thanks again,
Rob

It looks like updates are publically available.

I guess implementing a cd key system would be much more trouble than its worth for such a game. This isn't the next Half Life we're talking about here, its a game tailored to a very niche audience. And it's not like they're charging an arm and a leg for it.

It was a smart move to price it at $20 in retail and not to include barriers to playing like cd-keys. The box art was also a brilliant piece of marketing. No doubt it will catch the eye of a political junkie who will then look at it, and rather than putting it back will notice the attractive $20 price tag and give it a try.

Actually it had to do with printing the serial #s tha kept it from happening.

I agree, Ubi Soft's box is wonderful!
