Game crashes at startup

Well I found a copy of Political Machine at a Walmart near me, downloaded it only to find that after the beginning movie the screen stayed black and my computer crashed. Yes I downloaded direct x 9 from the cd. It didn't help--- My computer is a AMD 1.8 Gig - 512 mg of Ram-Video card is a Radeon 9200-Windows XP----HELP!!!!!!!!!

Do you have Service Pack 1 installed? If not, please install it, and then install DirectX 9.0c from http://www.microsoft.com/directx

That should get you fixed up.
