I WIN (and LOSE the POP vote BIGTIME!)- image link

This was me versus GW Bush. I played the states against each other as best I could and won by SLIM margins in the states that count... Tough game, but fun.

Would HATE to be President without winning the popular vote, though!

Oh I know.

I had this tonight:

Of course, losing the popular vote by 13 million is about as statistically likely as actually getting to campaign against George Washington (though you gotta give him credit for his snappy attire).

Wow though, 20 million votes, that's pretty impressive!

Intersting how you pushed the environment, hm? I lacked the $$ to push any issues I wanted- I made a character a little like me- no $$, no experience, and minimal fundraising skills. This was also a test run of the patch, and yep- I can win on Tough with a custom jobby, so COOL!
I had my political plan and stuck to it! I did quite some thought before beginning in that screen and then tried to execute the plan. I let Bush do whatever to certain states (like Ohio) and had secret states I turned, like Alabama(!) He didn't advertise there at all, and at the last second I swooped in. He also wasited some time in the NE in places like Mass. and VT which I went to, gave a few quick speeches and got 'em all hopped onto the bandwagon.

Had he secured the south better and realized he was going to get Ohio and Indiana and laid off there, he MIGHT have won california...

I have to say without my VP I wouldn't probably have won. She was critical in turning two areas and maintaining them (Maryland and Michigan).

BTW: So far at Tough the AI doesn't seem to make use of its VP very well... this intentional?

Is the AI VP bugged?

I've never seen him/her move.

I don't think the AI moves the VP candidate. He/She picks them based on their home state and other considerations and uses them to spread the awareness.

There is talk in some future version of giving the VP some powers but we'll wait to hear what players would liek to see.

I'd like to see the VP be able to do a mini-turn. You should be able to set him to fundraise for the week (at reduced power of course), give a speech on a particular issue (again, not as effective as the candidate in shifting issue scores) or boosting awareness.

The AI picks their VP very shrewdly sometimes, but at some point it might be to their benefit to move him. I recently was nearly beaten because the AI picked Hillary as a VP, completely negating my intimidator strategy for winning the state, but that's the exception. Besides, once awareness hits 100%, what point is there in keeping the VP in that state? In most key states, you hit 100% awareness before turn 30. That's 11 wasted Veep turns.

It would DEFINITELY behoove the AI to MOVE his VP candidate once they've got recognition up to 90% or so... There should be some changes to the AI on this, especially making use of the VP in the mason-dixon states, NE, and some areas of the west... that spread of recognition to other states can help.
