Slightly updated build

For those of you with TotalGaming.net subscriptions (or pre-orders who downloaded the game) we have an updated 1.01 build.  This is probably not going to be the "official" 1.01 patch still but it has some changes in it that I think you'll like.

Fixes:

  • The default stance problems have been fixed. Now you can’t create a character with 0 in a characteristic.
  • Bush and Kerry’s experience and stamina are the same
  • Spelling error in Withdrawal
  • 2 Directors no longer provides 3 ads. The director effect will only happen once no matter the number in state.

Enhancements:

  • Allow chatting during election sequence.
  • Added Port# text to find game screen
  • Added CTRL-D to dump state data from the active state

Big thanks to those of you who pushed on the "Why is Carter beating me" thread since it turned out that they were right - something had changed between the retail and 1.01 on the calculating.  This should be what the doctor ordered.

Two (or more) webmaster also has the same problem as two directors, except it is MUCH more abusable since you can control when and where you get to webmasters. No opponent can fight off 20+ television ads. Of course, it is simply a matter of not using this "cheat" but it should be fixed.

Also, I find the webmaster to be insanely strong. He makes a Television ad cost $7,000 a week which gives you national awareness and campaign definition. Compare that to the meager effects of the consultant... a whole +4% in one state. The webmaster should drop ad costs by 10% to 15% not 75%. At least, IMO.

Fun game, btw. I'm enjoying it plenty. A few little fixes and it'll be perfect.... too bad there wasn't a hotseat mode though.

I have the downloaded version, so I guess there's a patch. Where can we download this? It doesn't appear to be in the downloads link.

I registered with Startdock Central but I don't see the 1.01 patch. The latest version they show is 1.00.
Will they get the update posted soon?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't show.  In a pinch you can always try uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that helps (I know that's lame, best I can do on a Saturday <g>).
