Alien Vrs Predator

Alien Vs Predator

Ok, been hearing rumors about another Alien movie for like 2 years. Rumor was that it was to be an Alien V. Little else was heard. But then, about a month ago I see an advert for AVP. "Wowa, no way!" I said to myself. That toke me by surprise, and I still wonder if a fifth Alien movie is in the works. I'm also wondering when Hollywood will come up with an original idea, based on something that has already been done.

Well this flick wasn't bad over all. The question to me was, is it going to be better than the last two Alien movies? The first two were so outstanding that it is of the highest bar in my opinion. How could go wrong by combining two good sci-fi monsters in one movie? Just about every other genre has its Vs. now, so why the hell not put these two creatures together?

Pros:

Bad ass monsters
Cute heroeness
Bishop is not Bishop but Mr. Waylend of W corp not W-Y corp (interesting lead in to more movies?)
A couple of space ships here and there
The British guy from train spotting whom diareaed on his girlfriends bed
CGI & special effects didn't take away from most scenes they were in
One trailer before the movie had one of my all time favorite songs, and another was for RE2

Cons:

Set on Earth and not in the vast future
Predictable plot and atmosphere taken from numberous other great sci-fi flicks.
a couple, what could of been good "one liners" were cut short or too blatent.

Pretty much done and over done. If they are making another or another, I do hope they go off to the alien's home world eventually and there is sex with android. One of the few books that I have read and it was a while ago included these aspects, forget the name of it but I do remember flying aliens and hives of them on their world before somehow they make their way over to conqure earth. On a positive note, the preditor creatures were really awesome in this flick, and they were not all completely bad, which probably did keep the movie from being too cliché.

Whats the next most unlikely matchups?

Catwoman Vs. Sherah
Terminator Vs. Conan
The Thing Vs. The Swamp Thing
Gandalf Vs. Hermonie
Jaws Vs. Screamers
Joe Pescie Vs. Barberella: Tap that ass
Dirty Harry Vs. Hanable Lector
Tron Vs. Starfighter
Some Ninjas Vs. Some NFL Mascotts
Volcanos Vs. Traffic Lights

Then that would be a personal con of mine. I'm not usualy fond of most sci-fi movies that deal with pyramids or explinations of ancient earth history. Just me, and thanks for mentioning about the directors intent. If you have more information such as a link or some other way for me to see or hear what they said in that episode I'd like to check it out. Would be interesting to hear some of thier thoughts in more detail.

Thanks for the link, and it does explain a couple things that I do remember but did not realize until I read it. There was an alien skull in one of the preditor movies that it mentioned and I do remember wondering about that when I seen it a long time ago. It also mentioned how the predators ship had an aztec look on the inside of it in one of the films. So, these movies do have parallels they tried to follow, whether intentional or not, the way they did it is fitting and follows true thoughout the sagas. Perhaps since this film was done, and done pretty well I think, now they can move on and not just make more alien or predator films, but resume by also expanding them together. Thereby, they would be getting into some of the more futuristic stuff that I enjoy more of in sci-fi movies.

By the way, I think this movie is better than the last two alien movies I forgot to mention, but only slightly. I'd have to say it is almost more of an homage to Aliens more than anything else, considering how they have to force the lead character to get involved in a mission she knows will go awry, right down to making a Queen boss battle come from nowhere at the end. Plus they were also smart enough to include a bit of a surprise at the very end, which could be exactly what will keep me waiting for another film as I've mentioned earlier in this blog.

Well, we've been waiting a long time for Batman to have sex with Robin!
