The Political Machine is released

Stardock Entertainment is pleased to announce the availability of The Political Machine (published by Ubisoft). The Political Machine is a strategy game in which players take on the role of campaign manager for a US Presidential candidate. In it players compete against either the computer or against other players via the Internet in a contest to win the White House.

Candidates must campaign, raise money, take out advertisements, win endorsements, and even go on cable TV news shows such as The O''Maley Scenario, Hard Hitter, Barry King, Barbara Sawyer, and 60 Seconds to answer tough questions on the issues of the day. The game map uses real demographic information to accurately portray the political landscape of the United States.

Candidates also must contend with and make use of political activists and operatives such as Spin-Doctors, Smear Merchants, Scandal Mongers, Media Consultants, and more on their journey to the White House.

"Our goal is to create a game that is both fun to play for gamers as well as realistic enough for political junkies to appreciate the underlying depth and detail in the game''s political model," said Brad Wardell, Designer of The Political Machine.

Players can either use pre-made political candidates or design their own candidates. Pre-made candidates include real world politicians such as Bill Clinton, George Bush, and even historical candidates such Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and more.

The game also includes a fantasy mode in which players can tweak the map settings, as well as a campaign mode where players must work their way up a ladder of political opponents who get more difficult with each victory. Run your candidate against Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Thomas Jefferson and even George Washington on your way to ultimate mastery of the game.

Each game ends with victory for one of the candidates in the US electoral college. The game can be played against a computer controlled candidate or against another person playing over the Internet.

Users can learn more about the game on the game''s home page https://www.politicalmachine.com which also contains more information and screenshots on the game.

The Political Machine is now available at most retail outlets or online as part of Stardock''s TotalGaming.net service.

First off either Unisoft or Stardock is censoring me just like both the Democrats and Republicians are going to in their respective ways when elected. Your login for this account only seems to accept Bill Gates … it does not work Mozilla. Your biased – fix this an maybe you’ll have creditability.

It does not appear I will be able to download a copy of political machine for a while -- or in a timely fashion before I receive my preordered CD.

I received email confirmation the game was shipped yesterday (8/9) and pickup by Fedex today (8/10 @ ~3:15pm). I ordered 2-day so it should be here by 8/12 Thursday.

Would have loved to download this bad boy tonight! as would many of my friends. You all lost a lot of sales because of the option isn't available directly ... or you have to wait a while or order another service (what’s up with that?) ... now I wait for my only CD since its faster. You're not going to get the sales you could have due to this and you know! the reason why!

Just thought I'd gave an update

Did you preorder it thru a retailer (like Gamestop or EBGames), directly thru Ubisoft, or from the Stardock website (at the $29.99 Price)?

I am wondering because I have yet to receive an email saying that my copy shipped.
I paid the premium price of $29.99 directly from this site.

Calm down everyone, it will get to you when it gets to you.

EBgames still says the ship date is the 11th, so maybe it will hit stores today.

Gamestop, however, has pushed the game all the way to the 16th, suggesting that it will ship this week at all.

The moral of this story was to deal directly with UBI Soft. Its a pity that Stardock could not allow customers to download the game on time and its also a pity that UBI soft told me last week that ordering from them would be slower than picking the game up at EB, but oh well. I guess you can only expect top flight support from the big boys anymore.

Hey Maurader,

See reply 26 ...
I ordered directly from the ubi store ([email protected]) -- the game was $19.99 --> ~$27 after shipping. I know this not what you wanted to hear due to your situation.

The version from PoliticalMachine.com includes the political operative's kit.  The 19.99 version does not.

Frogboy --

The site said reduced from 29.99 (had little red line through price) --> $19.99 on Aug 4 for preorder (had little red line through price). I don't recall it mentioning the lack of political operative's kit nor giving an option to order the 29.99 version or I would have.

A little trickery! I guess that what you get for ordering from a company offering "political machine" -- just like politicking today -- you never really know what you get when elect or pay for something.

If this is all true and I don't get the political operative kit with my copy -- Where, When and How do I obtain it.? I see it will be available from other posts I've read for $10.

Thank you very much for keeping us updated these last few days on the status of The Political Machine.

Another quick question:

The current download thru Stardock Central automatically installs it on the machine you are on.
Is it possible to burn the program onto a CD so I can migrate it to another computer?

I want to play it at home but I dont have high speed access at home so I would prefer downloading it from my brothers house (who has high speed Internet access) and then somehow moving it to my machine.

You can use the Archive functions in Stardock Central to create a zip file with the game. Burn that, the Stardock Central installer, and your serial number to a CD. As you'll need them all to use the Restore functions in Stardock Central on your computer.
