SDMCP.exe

Anybody know what this process actually does? I have it loosely indentified with DexktopX and ObjectBar. I don't have either of these programs installed, just totalgaming and disciples 2.

I am a pc tech by trade at a large university. I spend a lot of time hunting down virus's and trojans for people and so I spend a lot time eyeballing the task list.

The file was located in program files\common files, but I have since deleted it since I cannot figure out what is making it run as it's not referenced in the registry anywhere. I know it's benign, and not network active (unless it is smarter than my firewall.), but it's kind of sloppy programming to have an errant process attached to software that sucks up a bit of runtime and doesn't do anything that I can tell.

Deleting the program has caused no problems, but more info would be nice.

It's StarDock Master Control Program (SDMCP)  it helps our programs (mainly Object Desktop components) load seamlessly.  Since Stardock Central controls installs for both Object Desktop and TotalGaming, it installs with Stardock Central so that it's there when needed.

Hmmmmm, when exactly is it needed? I deleted it and the only time it's ever produced any feedback was when I updated stardock. And then it just said the program wasn't there, and to re-install. But it upgraded fine.

You won't need it unless you use Object Desktop. Since you are only using TotalGaming, it's fine that you deleted it.
