Reading the "State Details" page - help please

When looking into state details (under the presidential hopefuls) i see a -5 with thumbs down and a + 7 with thumbs up.... can someone please explain the numbers. THANKS

The -5 means that the candidate is [slightly] against an issue and the +7 means that the candidate is for an issue. You compare this with how the people of the state feel. If they are for an issue and you are for an issue, you are getting their vote. The higher the absolute value of the number, the more you care about it. So, if are a republican and you are -25 on an issue and the republicans in the state are +25 on the issue, you've pretty much dug yourself into a hole. Or worse yet, your opponent dug the hole you fell in
