Why do diplomatic events all occur upon loading saved game?

It's as if all the diplomatic events in game are surpressed until I load a saved game. Often times I will get flooded with a dozen messages regarding deals between the AI empires and several black mail attempts at the same time when loading a game, and it only gets worse the longer I play without reloading. Is this a bug, an intentional feature, or just my imagination?

No, it's not just a reminder, I get offered trade deals and such too upon restart of a saved game. Something amiss, perhaps?

Never happened to me. Is this only in the latest version?

I also have never seen this, I have started saved games for all releases, including the latest.

Well, my experience is basically like this. If, for example, I declare war on a weak race, I can proceed to wipe them out without hearing so much as a gasp from them. If I save the game immediately after the declaration and load that game any time in the future, a truce request will pop up immediately and reliably. I have tried reloading that save game a dozen times and every single time the truce request would pop up. Yet when I just clicked on the next turn button without loading, there would be no such message. The same thing applies to alien black mail attempts and the miscellaneous diplomatic messages you often receive. In fact, I would go so far to say that over 3/4 of the diplomatic messages I have received in game so far were a direct result of me loading a game.

As an aside, my play time per session tends to be rather short, so perhaps that is exacerbating the problem for me. Maybe one of you guys can try reloading the game every 5-10 turns and see if you notice all your diplomatic messages popping up upon loading?

I have noticed the same pattern. I never really made the connection (assuming it was just coincidence) but yes...that has happened to me.

Same here, but the other way round to Za H. The Drengin will declare war on me coz my military sucks and then if I load up later, they come running for peace.

Hmm that's something to look at for the devs I think. I'll try it out myself tonight.

I think it has to do with the loading, not with the normal game. Loading sometimes causes other troubles too, like the temporary loss of culture.

I have had 2 games where one of the Ai players will surrender upon loading of a save game. Both times it was a major race with two colonys or more.
