The Way of the World

man are things screwed up.

On my way into work today I dropped off Brand (my son) off at a friends house that watches him three days a week. When I got there I noticed that one of there cars was missing. I said as much we I went in thinking that it was in the shop. Then I'm told that the car got stolen last night between 7 - 10 pm. The perplexing thing is that the car wasn't worth stealing. There are several better cars on that street alone. Since the car was crap they didn't have full coverage so now their stuck with one car and anyone that is use to a two car family being reduce to a single car especial when a kid is involved is bothersome at best. Sometimes I wonder if humans are worth saving.

Amazingly enough, a lot of older cars get stolen for the parts. They are also easier to steal because they don't have all the security systems that newer cars do. I hope that they find a way to replace their car. I gave a car to one of my family members once because they needed a car. If I had more money, I would give people more, but unfortunately, I have to pay my own bills first.

Please don't lose faith in the human race just because some bad people do some bad things. That is an awful thing to have something as important as a car stolen from you. At least noone was injured or traumatized. There was a carjacking near where I live the day before Thanksgiving. A poor woman and her teenage daughter were held at gunpoint. Their sense of well being was stolen. That can't be replaced. Car's can be.

Just look at your baby and keep in mind how good humans can be. Best wishes to you and your friend.

My daughter's car was stolen several years ago....also not "worth" stealing.....ok, actually, they were unable to start it (lol), so they pushed it into another nearby parking lot and tore out the CD player that she had put in herself. The police caught them several hours later with the CD player in their backpack...they were arrested, and ordered to pay restitution for the damage they did which was around $800....we recieved maybe $300 of it over the next few years then the "payments" stopped altogether (they are probably in jail or worse). It seems heroin was the big motivator.....even in my tiny little Catskill town.

Thank you all for your well wishes I shall pass those on to my friends. I won't give up on the human race but I do think there should be some serious changes. I think I post some of the changes I think should be a little later.

I think we should make harsher punishments. Our judicial system just doesn't work worth a flip. If someone steals something, their hand should be surgically removed. It's not cruel and unusual. They can be sedated. They'll live the rest of their life remembering what they lost that hand for, and how it wasn't worth it. A few years in jail is just a paid vacation for these people.

An eye for an eye. You take what's mine, I'll take what's your's. Seems pretty simple to me, but then again I've never been in the situation your friends are in. It's pretty worthless that people steal cars period. Maybe if they got off their asses and got jobs they wouldn't need welfare or stolen property.
