Custacean resurrection!

Bob's not dead!!!

I am such a dumb ass!  He had just moulted and had gone way inside his shell, so far in that I couldn't see him at all.

I had put what I thought was his empty shell on the kitchen counter, and when I saw it on the floor earlier thought that one of the kids had knocked it down...until I picked it up and saw Bob's pale pink legs sticking out!

Yay!  Bob's alive!

Yay! That is great news....not to mention a little freaky!

glad to hear Bob's alive...equally glad to hear he's not embarking on a new life as a "junkyard crab". You know how it goes: they hitch a ride in on the garbage truck, life off the refuse...next thing you know, they're trying to score with every discarded seashell that comes their way.

Anyway, glad he's not that!

I know!  I was completely caught off guard.  I can tell he moulted as well, he's all pale and soft.  Still, he ate, he drank, and he's moving, so it's looking good.

I'm glad he's not a junkyard crab as well, Gideon.  I wonder how many of them end up that way?

Just the ones who get caught up in "reefer" madness!

YAY>>> Good news... I bet Davey was happy!

Davey was ecstatic.  He said "I knew my crab was a tough guy!"

Now if I could just get Jacques to get back into a shell....he's been sunning around naked in the isolation tank since yesterday.  He has 4 shells in there to choose from, but apparaently none are to his liking. :/

Hey, I'm so glad to hear that Bob is okay.. and it sounds like hes a tough crab if the shock from being out of iso after a molt and falling of the counter and such didn't kill him..

Do you have him in an iso now? Also did you throw away his exo? You should be feeding him a LOT of calcium supplements (Like cuttlebone, blood worms, and dried baby shrim) to help replace the nutrients he should have gotten by eating his exo.

I'm sure you've read all about it though, I just get concerned!!

I am jealous, I want a crab to molt!

I'm feeding him some stuff I got from the pet store...and he's still quarantined.  Jacques moulted as well, and was very picky about shells...he wouldn't accept anything other than his old shell.  He did get to eat his exoskeleton though, and they've both been spending a lot of time sitting in the water dish again (which is what they did before they moulted)

I should have seen it coming, really.  Burying themselves, sitting in the water dish a lot....next time I'll be more aware and move them into iso beforehand.  Oh, and I also read that they prefer darkness and will actually delay moulting until they can get out of the light.

You're very pretty, by the way.  I love the dark hair!

Aww thank you! Its in need of some refreshing in both the color and the cut, but people still seem to like it so I'm not even going to worry about it.

Sounds like your crabs are doing great. Way to go on two successful molts!
