How do you DL 1.01a?

First time poster here.

Oh the price I have to pay for no-cd checks! Don't get me wrong I love the fact that no cd is needed to play, but this register only in order to update could be implemented in a little less confusing way. At least I find it very confusing and dififcult to have to go through all these steps to register just to DL a patch for a game I paid 40 bucks for.

But anyway could someone help me? I finally was able to register at Stardock central (I have my serial number imprinted on my brain now) and I am on the software section of the menu. I see these options..

Galciv 1.01
multimedia 1.0
bonus pack 1.0
windowed version 1.01a
pdf manual

Now I selected windowed version 1.01a option and then ran the game but still on the options menu it says 1.01??? What am I doing wrong? Is there anyway to DL 1.01 without using Stardock central?

The menu screen won't change. It only has screen space to display so many digits, so revision subsets like 1.01a.009 (the current windowed version), or 1.01a.033 (the current non-windowed version; yes, it is newer -- the windowed EXE isn't updated as often) don't appear in-game. Reload SDC central and see what it lists for "Installed" by the windowed EXE. It should be 1.01a.009, and that means you are set to go.

OK thanks a lot for the info.

Kind of odd that up until a few moments ago, on the dregin.net sub menu just to the right of that little star icon, it listed galciv 1.01 installed with no other version available. And just moments ago it changed to list 1.01a available to install.

Which was why I had tried to DL the windowed 1.01a version earlier instead of the regular 1.01a version if that makes any sense. So now I'm going to try to DL the regular 1.01a version instead of the windowed version of 1.01a. Wish me luck! ;)

Go to Tools --> Settings and check the "Show Application Revisions" box. That will show you the full version numbers and give you a better idea of when the small updates are released.

Thx Fredrik.

I've downloaded SDC last night (took me 3 hours with cable). It's just that I didn't want to use SDC. I just want to download the pacth (v1.01a) and keep it on my hd.
