its in the research menu, under fleet logistics.

??? Try researching more fleet capacity, it's the third tab under research...

Unless you're talking about something completely different...

Ok, I guess I have to do that a lot more. I was researched up to the third chevron only so far. I guess that's not enough, but I thought I should be able to at least build 2 capital ships. One at my main planet, and the second at my colonized asteroid. Both had Capital Ship Factories...

it's not based on #of factories.

Beneath the Chevrons towards the bottom of the panel is a row of stars. Those increase the number of ships in your fleet. The stars at the bottom work just like the Chevrons. The Chevrons increase the number of Capital ships and the Stars increase the total number of all ships(fleet size).

Could some of the more advanced and intelligent players, :) , tell us what level of fleet logics it takes to get that precious second capital ship? I've been working on that but usually get beaten before I can get it. (And I really need it now!)

Thanks, I'll check that out.

I don't remember anything about that in the tutorials or manual.

go to research, go to fleet logistics and under the "command points" panel on top click one of the squares with the chevron. of course, you have to have at least one research station of any kind, and the proper resources. once you have that you have to go to a capital factory and have the proper resources to build the actual ship. it costs alot of credits to build them

You have to have the supply to support a capital ship, and the crew research to crew the ship. The capital ship crew research is the top row of the Fleet Logistics research tab, and supply is the bottom row.

you need the first crew training (logistic part of research window, basic crew training) and at least 50 fleet supply to get the 2nd capital ship.

i was not aware of the 50 supply but i usually research the general fleet before the command capital anyway, so ive never visually noticed it, but yeah, i forgot that.

If you go to the research screen you will see one button that says Fleet Logistics. Click on that and then it will take you to another screen where there will be 2 rows of buttons. Top row increases command points which are used for Capital Ships. The bottom row is increases fleet points which are used for building frigates and cruisers, capital ships also require fleet points but if you don't have any command points you won't be able to build another capital ship period.

It's a matter of balance if you ask me. Don't forget to use the Black Market so you can keep making progress on military and economy tech research. Take on the pirates (that is don't bribe them to attack the opponent early on) for the easy capital ship experience points during the early game. Choose your first Capital ship wisely. The one all the way on the left works well since it has strong offense. Then research the military techs that boost it. That should get you started.

To the prior poster who asked how to get started.

i prefer the beast with the colonize ability. they are beasts and can take out most of the militias and uncolonized places on their own then go in and colonize it. but like most things, it's whatever you're into.

ya i too have been picking the "colonize" cap ship first... it has a fighter wing right off the bat and its just TOOO convenient to be able to fly one ship to a sector, conquer it, and then colonize the planet all in one ...

it may not have as much punch as the bigger battleships but the air wing sorta makes up for that...

I hear ya. But the first one on the left has alot more fire power and better offensive upgrades at the higher classes. Colonizing ships are cheap. Although they are easy targets, with a little planning and timing they work well for the actual colonizing. The higher fire power of your first capital ship, so long as you keep it in battles throughout the game and alive, make it a monster in the later stages. I choose the one with the colonizing ability as my third or fourth capital ship because by then if things are going well colonizing is long distance.
