modding string file

okay, I made a new ability, it was simple the novalith cannon modded so it would work on ships. I tested it out on scouts, and it worked. But I wanted to change the name, so I changed the refernce to the string file, I then went to the string file, and added my own entry to it, with the name for my mobile novalith ability. I then loaded the mod and.....MY GAME WENT BERSERCK!!!

everything that normaly had words, simply said "no string found"
I messed around a little, and couldn't get it to work, putting a new entry in the string file.

So.. is it possible to add entries to the string file? and if yes, how?

could you please give any info you can about the actual ability itself, because we want to use it to make torpedoes that can be shot down for the bfg mod? Thanks, sorry i'm no help for your question.

All I did was copy and paste (and rename of course) the novalith cannon ability entity, then I opened it, changed it so it doesn't need reaserch, lowered the cool down time, and a few other basic things.


My ultimate goal is too make a ship that will be a modded verson of the Marza, that has super-uber abilities. Its level six ability will be a mobile novalith shot. This ship will be more expensive then your average capitol ship of course, and probably more expensive than the novalith it self.

But I can't do this unless I can not only change the names of things, but also ADD names.
