Hey I'm new here, this game rocks extremely hard, but I did notice that Defense plats get pwned a tad too easily. This is an awesome simple mod, just the kind of thing I was looking for...but I guess I'm a little slow. How do you install this thing? lol

You just have to put it in your mod folder, start the game, and enable it.

ok total newb question where is mods folder, or do i need to make one?

Should be somewhere like this:

C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\

Good stuff, I was working on the PJI also, but figured someone else who knew what they were doing would get it working similar to how I wanted it :CONGRAT:

Might want to read up on properly defending colonies before jumping to any conclusions about em if your new. Adding a few tips really makes a difference (placement, repair bays, amount, hangers etc.).

So I don't have a path anywhere that looks like what you described. Where do I put this? The only path I have on my HD is C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire and there is no "mods" folder.

When you go in the game, click the Mods button, and then click the show MOD path.

I must be too dumb to play this game as I have no "mods" button in my game. V1.0 fyi, I have no interweb at home with which to update (DL'd the game at work) Guessing the mods button was added in 1.01 or .02? Updating now, hoping to find a new button

C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\ is a Vista path

C:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\ is the equivalent on earlier versions of Windows

What do you do if your computer does not have the folder called "Local Settings"? My Application Data folder is located in my "YourUserName" folder.

Can someone please help me with this?

Its a hidden folder, you need to go to Folder Options and set the view hidden to on.

Ohh, it's under local, no wonder I couldn't find it. And btw, does anyone here know of/remember a game called Conquest: Frontier Wars. Cause this joint reminds me WAY more of that game than GalCiv or Homeworld or anything like that. Believe me it's a good thing, I was extremely obsessed with that game, partially cause there was nothing else quite like it. This game is basically a deeper, sexier looking version of that game, so I'm having a ball right now. Thank you Stardock!!! :)

There is no proper building defense versus 50+ cruisers, that's a fact. I always run over like 19 defense turrets and a few dozen ships in the pirate system with even less ships (around 40) so I made the MOD to make it more of a challenge to me.

I think I will like this mod. I think heavier defense will help balance out the fleet cap scaling problems on larger maps.

Is it possible using mod tools to add an extra squandron to the base amount supported by hangars? I think one more squadron per hangar would give them a fun amount of ooomph.

I installed this last night. Wow what a difference.

PJIs actually do their job with this mod. They dont completely block travel, but they do add risk to retreating. Retreating will cause you to loose a significant number of ships instead of just running away with no penalty.

Gausse/Beam/Missile defenses are actually worth building now. They can actually defend planets long enough for you to bring ships to drive off the attackers.

Excelent mod, thanks :)
