Planet Colors?

Hi everyone. Is there a way to change the colors of planets that are used in my map? For instance, can I create a yellow ice planet? Or a blue gas giant?

I don't want all gas giants to be blue or all ice planets to be yellow, I just want to be able to choose that type of thing where appropriate. I read the pdf included with the new mod tools and while informative, I didn't quite understand what it was saying...

Also, is there a way to give planets rings? (ala saturn)

Yes, but I don't think you can do so ingame. Planets have multiple textures it can choose from; and you can easily use photoshop to change one of the textures colors.

that's not what we're trying to do. We do not want EVERY ice planet to be yellow, just one. Is there a way to get galaxy forge to make the game choose one of the texture sets?

No, never, never live or eat or even tounh that yellow snow, if ice planet cover with yellow, there is chance some sort of great alien pissing on planet while they on way somewhere, maby chase Vassi.

As far as i can tell (at a quick glance) to have a specifically yellow ice planet, with out affecting the normal ice worlds, you would have to create it as a new planet type which would involve the following

import planet_ice_0 mesh into say 3ds max
Retexture it
export it as an XSI
convert it to a mesh
copy the planetIce.entity file and rename it
replace the entries refering to normal ice planet meshes with your new yellow ice planet
and add it into the galaxyforge scenario definitions,

but i havent tried any of that, and i am especially unconvinced of the last bit working

EDIT: in retrospect their is probably a quicker way, but it involves removing a texture set from normal ice planets.
