Anyone know how to give frigates, cruisers and captials to fly like fighters or strikercraft?

I think it would be so much better watching the battles. Hope to hear from ya guys soon!

I dunno, but we at the BFG mod need to find out how so we can get the eldar to work, so i'll probably post back if/when i figure it out.

These are the values that will let you change how an entity moves:

mass 150.000000
maxAccelerationLinear 200.000000
maxAccelerationStrafe 100.000000
maxDecelerationLinear 1000.000000
maxAccelerationAngular 49.999992
maxDecelerationAngular 99.999985
maxSpeedLinear 2000.000000

Those are the values for a TEC bomber. Change any of the ships to that and see them move like crazy!

Those will change the speeds when it does move, but frigates, cruisers and capships all just sit there until ordered to move or when moving into range of a target, then hold still as they fight it. How do you make it behave like a bomber and make runs on the target?

Having just had a play around changing different things, I think that its entirely likely that its part of the entity type, and as such you would have to re-do everything to be based around fighter\squads, how transparent you can make the change im unsure.

Tried doing that but the game crashes i'm also working on putting levels on all units so they start very weak in the beginning but they gradually get better as the battle goes. So like in beginning they have less health points and shields and as they go up they meet stats of what we have now and than increase as time goes on.Unfortunately when I try to do this it crashes as well.

The engine is very sensitive to syntax errors, it will crash even if something doesn't add up to something else, for example if you change the number of capital ships to 6 from 5 and add nothing else - that's a crash.

I looked into this as well, as I also think it has everything to do with entity type. There are probably files still not available to us which govern how fighters and other ships behave, so my guess is we have to sit tight until those are released. I just hope the behaviour isn't hard-coded. But that's not likely given the modability of the engine.

Anyway, a good chunk of modding stuff isn't out yet. AI for example, no way to tweak that.
