Turn Based Mod

I would like a turn-based mod for this game converting this RTS into a GalCiv style game play. I am posting this to "test the waters" to see how many other people prefer the turn-based style over RTS.

SSE is a beautiful game and the "Unrivalled Scale" description is an understatment. My mind is boggled by the shear size of this game.

Great job on build a fantastic game that I expect will win lots of awards.
Sincerely,

Um, its not exactly possible to turn an RTS into a TBS -- there are two totally different engines going on there.

Which is why I'm thinking he's wanting something else...

Well, a series of games called "Combat Mission" (released a few years ago), were turn-based/ RTS hybrids set in WW2 Eueropean theater. They did a nice job of allowing the players to give orders, then executed all sides simultaiously for 60 seconds. During which no one could change their commands. Now that kind of game system in SSE would make each game last much longer. And boring. So maybe if only the battles were turn based...

I'm still brian-storming on how to make this work.

The game (SSE) is awesome the way it is, but I love GalCiv. I would like to use this game engine in the GalCiv universe. Maybe GalCiv 2 needs a mod using this graphics engine?

Use the pause feature. This request would require a major change to the game engine. GalCiv 2 did enhanced the game engine, make sure you've got the latest patch. :)

Yes, not feasable. The pacing is so stately as is I think its unnecessary, though.

If you can find some way to have a auto-pause and all possible controls disabled between pauses, you could theoretically make an improvised turn based system.

A customizable Smart-pause for events (Fleet arrived at destination, enemy fleet with capitals encountered, planet bombardment, research done, bounty on own head increased,...) similar to the game UFO:Afterlight could be useful especially with the speedcontrols in singleplayer.
