I'm making a sticky thread to keep you guys updated on when we plan to release another beta.  Please do not use this thread to discuss features or report bugs.

Update 04.02.08:

Since Brad has been on a business trip all week, we're going to wait until next week to do another update.

Update 03.26.08:

We're planning on doing an update this Thursday, barring technical problems. 

Update 03.20.08:

Beta 6 is up!

Update 03.12.08:

Hi guys, sorry about the lack of news, but I've been sick with a bad upper respiratory infection since last Thursday and today is my first day back.  So we're not going to update the beta this week. I'll let you know when I find out when we're doing the next update.

Update 02.22.08:

No beta today either.  I spent most of the day fixing bugs I ran into while testing, and tweaking the code to automatically design ships for players, so the end result is that more time was spent coding than testing.  Rather than throwing a largely untested beta at you, we're going to wait a little bit longer. 

Update 02.21.08:

Hey guys, sorry for an additional delay, but Brad went home sick today so we're not going to put up another beta.  Also, we're looking into the issue some people are having where downloading the update from earlier this week seems to have corrupted their installation.  If you updated to Beta 4C and now get a crash when trying to start a new game, please e-mail your install logs to [email protected].  The files can be found in Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\Installed.  The files for Twilight are named gc2_Twilight.log and gc2_Twilight.xml, and you should send in the files for the other modules if you installed any updates for those at the same time. 

I'll let you know tomorrow if we will be trying to put up the update then.

Update 02.08.08:

Not this week.  We've all been swamped and the servers are getting pounded from the people downloading Sins anyway.

Next week is Valentine's Day so there will be no update next week either so that no one has to work late.

As far as I know, we'll keep to our standard release on Thursday schedule, so the next update would be on Thursday 02/21/08.

Brad implied in his post that it'd be next week, so I guess that's something. But, it will have the "auto design a ship" option, and AI updates, so I'm willing to wait a bit longer.

I never get why people capitalize "info" like that. I've seen it more than once.INFO being short for information I have all ways capitalize wrong or right not sure but I doBut... it isn't an acronyme! It's a shortened word, yes, but you generally only capitalize individual letters if they're representing an entire word.Sorry for being a grammar nazi!

No it is not a acronym but I also appreciate Cari taking the time to update us so I Capitalize INFO which give it a little more Emphasis to show i`m THANKFUL for the INFO :)

Shouldn't Nazi have been capitalized?


I have a theory: it is physically impossible to criticize someone elses grammar and/or spelling without making an unintentional error in the same post, no matter the quality of your typical writing.

Well, Sir Nasty, it is outside of my abilities to stop you from typing random words all in caps. However, I reserve the right to giggle uncontrollably every time I imagine you yelling said words in the midst of an otherwise normal sentence. :D

Agree, I have tried following the release plan of this beta in last 4 weeks. (1 week cause SoASE, 1 week after, 1 week for good valentin, and 1 week since personal illness).

A few more turns never hurt... But I do believe during those 4 turns much could have happened, and so grows my anxiety.

I'm just getting confused... I bought in early on the premise of regular updates. I can understand that things happen, but yet I feel as though I "paid for the privilege" to at least know what's going on.

I'll shoosh now before I waken the sleeping poster who says I should consider myself lucky etc etc... ;)

~snorts awake~ Consider yourself lucky...back in MY day we had to walk FIF-TEEN miles to get the patches for the game. Uphill. Both ways. In the snow.

All jokes aside, yes we are just lucky beta testers by pre-ordering. Having anything of a game 2 months ago was wonderful by itself.

With Ubisoft, buying the game at retail counts as a predorder, and you don't get a working game until 3 or 4 patches later.

Which is another reason why nobody should complain about the date being pushed back for the live release of TA. Stardock has an air of quality to uphold. I'd hate to see what would have gone live if they crunched the game to come out in December like the original release date.

Well its about time someone said it. yes we are lucky but in the same right we did pay for the game and with that a time table set forth by SD. Now i'm all for pushing back a release date to better the game but a little knowledge about a possable release date would be nice. On closing i'll also say it was really peculiar that when Sins was released the info flowing from SD about TA almost came to a sreeching halt it was not until people started complaining did they responde. With that i say Adieu, Guten Tag, and Good Day Sir.

Their was nothing peculiar about SD coming to a screeching halt on TA when sins came out. Brad himself announced that that they had largely focused on helping sins get out the door for release. Brad even admitted that he was playing sins a lot when he should be working on other stuff. Don't forget he said they also went on vacation/break for a week or two. So there is no mystery about it. Sins temporarily derailed TA for a bit. But its on track now. They have to get TA wrapped up soon as they also have to get Political machine out by mid 2008. They also have several planned patches for Sins and no doubt TA when it releases for the year. They are also planning out not-MoM2 right now and no doubt an expansion for sins. So while Stardock has a full plate this year, (but they did hired more people) they will no doubt deliver quality product as they always have. Just need to have a little patience.
