Write in votes?

I don't get it.

So...since I'm relatively new to this whole voting thing, could someone please tell me how to write in a candidate this November? Is that allowed? Is it something people do? I mean, do they leave a little blank space on the ballot for you to put whoever you think would be a better candidate than the choices?
If I can, then I'm-a write in Bill Richardson. :D :D :D
Thanks for the help.

So you want to throw your vote away? Heh, heh.

I haven't gotten around to voting yet myself...so I have no clue.

If my choices are Hillary and McCain, then yes. If I can have Obama, then I'll vote for him instead. But it looks like a throw away from what I've been observing.

Well, Obama still has a shot...and hopefully he'll get it. McCain pretty much has his position locked down. I'd vote for McCain before I voted Hillary, I'll tell you that much.

Each state is different in how to "write in". But the poll workers are usually very helpful if you tell them that is what you want to do (they will show you how, you just have to remember it when you go into the booth).

And Huckabee plays base...and Hillary wears cool pant suits...and Obama's got a neat name...and Mickey Mouse has three fingers on each hand and they all have one thing in common...they will not make good Presidents.

No kidding. I honestly can't believe how people write like that all the time. I just wanted to emphasize how much I wish good ol' Billy boy could be the president. I'm kind of weird like that and use funny words and language to make a point. But yeah, at the risk of going off topic, I love my grammar.

Though get this, I recently turned in an essay for English, and I misused a lot of punctuation. I blame the internet and texting because we're allowed to be lazy and informal. Therefore, I now suck at grammar and punctuation.

I cried a little when I realized this. :(

We're not friends anymore, if you used that as a reason why.

Don't count ObamaBAH out yet. We might yet get to cast our votes for the "numinous negro" after all . . .

And if it's Hillary McCain, I don't know what I'll do. It'll depend on who the VP candidate is. If I'm staring at a McCain-Huckabee ticket, I'll put a Hillary sticker on my car.
