Pirates and the In-Game Map Generator

I'm working on a 3v3v3 huge map with 9 stars and 12 planets per star. But I have a quick question, if I add a tenth star, and have a pirate base there, will they still be able to attack everyone from that centralized location, or does the base have to be in the star with the other players to attack them? Or can they phase jump to other stars to attack their bounty?

As far as I know, pirates can't travel between stars :)

If that's the case, it will make me a sad panda.  :SNIFF!:

Does it really matter where the pirate base is since the pirates are spawned out of thin air for the raids?

The pirate raid is spawned at their base, and then it travels to wherever they decide to attack :P

I made a map with two stars. On one star there are two players, and on the other a pirate base. After 3-4 hours and after winning the game i haven't seen any signs of pirates. So yeah it looks like they can't travel between stars.

I've had intersteller pirate attacks on me. They're very, very rare (I'd wiped out all pirates near my planets, and the bounty on me was >3K when it happened). Was definately not expecting it, but it happens...whether it's supposed to happen is another issue entirely (I think I'd wiped out the player in the same system as the pirates with my fleet, yes fleet, of Novalith cannons, so that might have been one of the reasons as well).
