Stat tracking problem

When people lose they just quit the game, they don't surrender. So you don't win the game, and you have to spend upwards of an hour finishing off the rest of their stuff. I've won 4 games, and I have credit for only one of those, this doesn't work very well in regards to stat tracking unless I spend most of the game mopping up the remains of my enemies.

I think it should automatically declare you a winner if all enemy players drop from the game, I have no interest in fighting AI opponents in a multiplayer game.

Yep I agree, though many people are arguing that the AI should take over for humans when they drop. A fix for the stat problem is coming but the AI replacing human issue is still up for grabs. Any other thoughts on this?

Maybe some kind of option, on whether to replace with AI or not? Or, maybe something like a ranked/unranked option, with ranked games not doing the replacement.

That should be an option at the start of the game the host can deside. When you have all the players find out if they want ai to take over or not then seclect said result. Thought you guys learn that lesson always give the option to the players. The other issue also becomes what ai should take over and that also would need to be slected at that start of the game.

ai taking over is fine, but once all the players who you are at war with are AI, you should get the victory screen. if you want to play on, then you can.

so far i have won 6 games and been credited with none, even though i tell people not to quit and they do it anyway

Don't worry, we'll get it fixed up very soon :)

Devs can just play other games and see how they manage it. Like C&C, StarCraft, Sup Com, etc.

I am sure they left lot of minor things out to ship the game.
Like not being able to see which lobby exist beside the one you are in.

Pretty sure they will fix it soon with patch improvements in the future.

I like the idea that if a human drops the AI *doesn't* take over - especially in 1v1 games. I realise that it's not the norm, but it does make sense & puts the onus back on all the players of the game.

Having said that, if you were to play something like a 4v4 and 1 player drops, then you may well want an AI to take over so all 7 people can still have their fun.

As there are instances when either situation is preferable, then I advocate the idea of having it as an option when the game is set-up.

Taking the idea slightly further; if the AI does take over, but for whatever reason there is only one human player left, then that player should be awarded the win. I've spent enough time in MP games to realise that you will always get idiots who somehow wangle a game where-in they drop & you are left on your own to fight a hidiously long/nigh-impossible battle against AI or suffer the loss. So it's only when the penultimate human player (tm) leaves that this caveat kicks in and you are awarded the game.

Thoughts?

Firelock, thats what I was shooting for as well, If all enemy players leave (Alliance victory should count as well..or maybe a countdown to win if someone wants to betray their alliance ;) ) and its only players vs AI, the game should end in victory. This way, if a player drops in 3v3 or 4v4, theres still other team members left, and the AI takes over. If all other team members drop, the other team wins.

Making this an option for players is good too, but I would like to see it implemented like that.

honestly if you ask me when the play drops or quits they should count it as a loss and then either their stuff gets given to a team mate or just blows up. Letting the AI take over would be frustrating beaing the player only to have the computer resurect his empire while your dealing with the team mate. I would rather have things sit still so you could hunt them down instead of a AI. Just not a fan I have played enough sword of the stars to know that AI taking over a human drop is just annoying lol either explode or sit there like a good little target.
