You can. Open up CursorFX, select more cursors, click on the link to WinCustomize. Find the cursor you want and download it. ;)

Can you give an example (WC link) of a cursor that fails so I can test?

Everyone that's not listed in CursorXP control panel.

Sorry CursorFX instead of CursorXP

I'm not seeing that.  I'm runnign Aero Exec and that new aztec one with no problems.

The two are interchangeable. The system can read read both file types. I would like to test any cursors as well that won't work in the new software type.

TOMPCpl, silly question, do you have both CursorXP and CursorFX installed? If you do, set CursorXP to default.

If they are both installed,my recommendation was to uninstall both then reinstall only curFX, as last I remember they fought with each other.

I guess I need instructions to install new cursors/themes. I've installed FX, uninstalled XP (and in doing so lost all the themes I had downloaded for that), rebooted a couple times, uninstalled/reinstalled, downloaded a few themes either to desktop or had them open with CursorFX and....nuthin'. I can't see anywhere to put the files I've downloaded into the program file, double clicking them when they are on desktop does not do anything....??

Have you tried right clicking a CursorXP theme on your desktop, choosing open with, and selecting CurosorFX? That should work. Oops tested this and it doesn't work. Only method I've found so far is to manually copy the theme file directly into the CursorFX theme directory located at:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes

Both CursorFX theme files and CursorXP files are correctly working for me. I'm running XP SP@ all updates.

Perhaps getting double clicking and right clicking on the theme file to work are items to be worked on by developers? :d

Yes, repeatedly.
Now after 2 hours I just found the "theme" folder for CursorFX in All Users>application data>shared documents>shared pictures!! The rest of CursorFX is in program files, just the theme folder was hidden away. So I dumped a theme file in there, now it is the only theme that shows up when I open the program, all the themes that came with it are not available...? I guess that folder is only for the effects?
Thanks for your help, but gotta go for now. I'll check back tomorrow.

The location once you install CursorFX for themes is the following folder:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes

Putting either type of file in that folder and CursorFX will display and apply them.

CursorFX stored themes in the following location:

%PROGRAMFILES%\Stardock\CursorXP\Themes

Users should copy themes from the CursorXP theme folder into the CursorFX theme folder to see them in CursorFX.  Do this before you uninstall CursorXP as the uninstall will remove the CursorXP folder from %PROGRAMFILES%.  We will update CursorFX to do this automatically on first run in a soon-to-be-release build.

CursorFX should take over file associations for .CurXPTheme and .CursorFX. Both should get custom icon and open and edit shell associations, that is, if you double click a downloaded .cursorFX or .CurXPTheme file CFX will automatically copy it into the proper directory and ask you if you want to also apply the theme.

Can you confirm if the .CurXPTheme file association (icon+double click action+right click->Modify/Edit) is broken? If so, also hte .CursorFX file association should be broken because both formats are handled equally.

I can confirm.
Neither will self install during download.
Neither will install using a doubleclick.

To install .cursorfx I just manually move to the appropriate directory
To install .curXPTheme I open in the "New Package" dialog and saveas .cursorfx then move to the appropriate directory.

Any reason you redo/rename the curXPThemes? I've just been moving them over "as is", seems to work fine. Just wondering if I'm missing out on anything. Thanks.

Merged interface with mouse options(It's hard to find in Menu Start programs sometimes), faster tabbing(I don't need to wait 1-2 seconds to change tab).
You can also reset preview animation in CursorXP, and you can preview all states(Even the click ones).

Also i like to see automatic cursor change when running CursorXP or CursorFX file(Doesn't work), i like the editor for CursorFX, it's better for beginners(Now you can create hotspots by clicking on cursor for clicked state).

Have done this. Files are in all of the proper locations but nothing shows up in the FX control panel. Would like to have a load package button like icon packager, where you can download from web or from disk. I can't get it to work at all. I just installed the now update today.

killajosh, if I am not mistaken that method does not work with CursorFX Free version. It does not work on my machine and several others who have posted have confirmed this. Do you have CursorFX Plus?
