Wormholes?

What are they, are they possible?

isWormhole FALSE
minShadow 0.000000
maxShadow 0.000000

So while I was looking through the gameinfo folder for Sins, I noticed that every orbital entity had this entry in it, and all of them are set to the exact same thing. But I was wondering if anybody had figured out what this entry does. Does it allow us to make extra solar phaselane connections with planets, or what? Since nothing in the betas has this as true, it would make sense that it is for some sort of ability in the release game.

In the final version they removed ship lanes so what you have found it could be remanents of some old code.

you mean they removed phaselanes in the final version, what did they do instead? Or are you talking about something from an earlier beta?

LoupGris... dont lie to him...

there are new things in the final version known as wormholes, they allow nearly instantaneous travel across the universe to a parallel wormhole.

lol, sweet, thats what i thought this was for, but i couldn't figure out why a planet would be a wormhole.

Wormholes are something in the release version. You can see a screenshot of them here.

I wonder if they can be defended... Damn I wish the game had minefields...

heh, unlikely!!

what would you defend? the center of the grav well is (supposedly) where you come in and out from when going across the system.

besides, it would make the game much less fun to reduce the ability to use these for sneak attacks :P

Sorry mate I'm only repeating what Ironclad told us about Gamma. They said that they removed phase lines but they didn't say in what manner. As far as wormholes are concerned I was refering to the final version as well. So who knows wait and see. It will be in our hands in a week.

wait???

you have special access to info about the gamma? you a reporter or something?

if thats the case then I'm wrong, and I apologize. but I think you might be refering to the lack of phase lanes between stars which is slightly different.

Not sure where you heard that.

Yeah, not sure where anyone said we removed phase lanes. We haven't and AFAIK, nobody even claimed we had.

Removing them would make movement a bit crappy wouldn`t it? lol

Btw those wormhole could be nice. Always some backdoor into your enemies stronghold. Games can take forever if there only a few ways into your enemies systems and all are heavily defended.
