Fishing for Material

Help a Writer Out

With my lax school schedule I seem to be having a decent bit of free time these days.  I'm starting get a bit restless writing wise.  The trouble is...I'm out of muses for the moment.  Nothing is really stoking a fire in my creative center...so I have the urge, but nothing with which to work with.

So I come here and decide to seek aid and succor from you.  Do you guys have any persistent ideas in your heads that would make a decent writing topic?  I'm looking for just a sentence or so to get a good idea in mind and I'll see what I can come up with, be it one of my blurbs about the topic or perhaps a poem...hell, maybe even a short little story if you're lucky.

I remember we had a bit of a writing club going on around here(The JUWC, if I remember correctly), so if this article sparks that back into life, that'd be pretty sweet as well....then we can all join in.

If you have any good ideas please share...or we can whip up another writer's club article.  Brainstorm, guys...I'm a little empty for the time being.

"An insect that mutates into a form that can survive in a new environment." - for the sentence.

I just saw one of those discovery shows where they showed what happened at Chernobyl 20 years ago and how it is now.  Basically all large plants and animals died, but the small plants and insects hung on.  Something along those lines given your passion?

Don't ya just hate writer's block?

Heh, that I do, that I do...especially if I have an assignment.  Luckily I don't have many(well, nothing above a page and a half) this semester.

"An insect that mutates into a form that can survive in a new environment." - for the sentence.

Hmm...metamorphosis, adaptation, change, evolving, learning, growing....hmm...yes, it has potential.  I'll keep in it mind and see what happens.

Something tells me if I did that...it would get pretty raunchy. ;)

Have fun. That's your assignment!

You have given me a book to write...whew...that's a pretty big project. I might be able to do a short story...but it'd be a fairly long short story. I've never really had the attention span for book writing....though maybe someday.

A vaccine is developed that allows humans to live for 500 years in relative good health. It's cheap, easy to produce, and the materials needed to create it are plentiful. Enough could be made to treat every human on the planet within a few month's time.

That's an awesome story-start.

My best writing was always done based on things that happened in strategy computer games, and a couple of stories about board games. Injecting action into a turn-based game is fun!

That being said, I'd take this start for myself except that I would need some sort of mechanism for deciding what happens, as I am extremely indecisive!

UPDATE:

Doc, Jythier...I've written using those tidbits.  Thanks.

Whip, I think I might have something in store...it's going to take a bit of planning though, but I just had an idea.

Hey mate, don't have any ideas but I've been thinking about trying to get the JUWC started again. Thanks for the reminder.

No problem...I'd like to see that back in action. Fun stuff, that it is.
