Shoot 'em Up (on Blu-ray)

Netflix finally found a copy of Shoot 'em Up (on Blu-ray) to ship me, after leaving me waiting for it for several weeks.  I wish I hadn't had to wait for it, but I have to say the wait was worth it.

90 minutes of virtually non-stop action.  Actually about 88 minutes of gunfire being exchanged, with about 2 minutes of plot details that tied things together.  Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti, Monica Bellucci and a cast of characters that make targets for either of the two male actors.

Looks great on Blu-ray, has a few interesting extras included (documentary type behind the scenes of the movie, etc.)  Worth a rental if you want to see a breath taking array of bodies being stacked up.  If you are looking for heavy plot and character development, look elsewhere though.  This one makes no apologies for being a movie that is meant to feature guns being shot at the lead actor, and being shot by the lead actor.

I was somewhat surprised by how much I liked it.  It was a fun ride.  The making of documentary was enjoyable too, with the director/creator of the story talking about how long ago he'd come up with it, and what his intentions were.  Very comic-book styled, and just a lot of fun to sit and watch.

Certainly not Shakespeare, or high artistic value, but a lot of fun.
