The build up for Sins begins

Retail orders and ads have started

Sins-2pagead

The ads for Sins of a Solar Empire of are starting to arrive in the magazines in a big way.  2-page spreads in PC Gamer and Games for Windows (CGW) are here.

Moreover, the initial orders from retail have started to arrive. WalMart, Best Buy, EB, and GameStop are all on board.

Most gamers have no idea just how difficult it is to get a PC game onto store shelves (or any product for that matter). Next time you're at the store, look at the makers of most PC games.  They're mega corporations.  Here, we have an Indie developer and Indie publisher working together.

Retailers look very closely at how much preview coverage a game has gotten. They look at the rankings on sites like Gamespot and GameStats.com to judge the interest in a given game.  What really makes the difference between a mega hit and a "sleeper" is the initial sell-in.

Hopefully most Sins beta testers agree that we have something special here.  Sins of a Solar Empire is a fantastic game that may really change the way RTS's are made (I must say, the ability to save multiplayer games and return to them later is really nice -- besides for the obvious reasons, have you ever had a game going with friends for 45 minutes only to have someone drop due to computer problems? Now you could keep going where you left off).

Here are the issues we're in:

Yes! :) The 2-page spread looks pretty awesome, too.

You folks (both Stardock and Ironclad) have done a pretty amazing job with the game, and I hope it does very well once it's released :)

I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!

"An acient race running from a demise of thier making"

that is paraphrased from it, but just WHAT implications do you think that has on the Vassari?

Hey so that is what happened to Mr. Clean. Cool!

Seriously, the advertisement looks good and has a good cross style feel to it. Hopefully you guys will get the cover for next month's edition.

The game is really coming a long very well. I had a blast in the few MP games I had. Pirates make any 1v1 a lot more interesting! Lost a few Capital ships in one 1v1 but I was able to use pirates to my advantage and leveled my enemy's homeworld, a devastating blow to his econ. Shortly after that my culture overran his boarder outpost, and he had no choice but to concede.

I am very excited about this game, and I can see it doing very well amongst the usual Strategy crowd, as well as some other people if there is a compelling story mode.

Shall we sacrifice a Halo fan to the gaming gods in the hope that sins will succeed beyond expectations? I know where we can get them in bulk!

In all seriousness, pretty good ad there, looks like the TEC is going to get blown to little tiny pieces (Hmm, 2 vs. umm...lots) and I sincerely hope that I don't have to suffer too long waiting for the shipments to get across the border and into canada, usually is about 4 days to a week after the release in the US, I can stay sane that long, right?

Now to pick apart the image...

Right... there.

Gives us a bit of a hint about the new diplomacy. If I were to venture a guess, that looks like you can set a bounty on specific targets/pay factions to attack certain planets. :D
