Proposition: Axis&Allies, best computerized board game

I got the renowned "Axis and Allies" for Christmas, and it really is the best case I could ever conceive of a board game brought to computers. And it's the best strategy board game I know. It's very cumbersome with dices and all, but this is automatic on computer.

Many know Axis&Allies, and it could be a great addition if rights can be bought. It's worth $10 in shops, but that's nothing compared to those $40 boards.

I might not be the first buyer since I got it for xmas already, but it's as good as it ever gets (+1 minor glitch w/ planes). I know I know, mine is still stuck on CD

Atari has been a tough nut to crack for digital distribution (seems like I keep saying that), but we'll keep trying.

The new Atari Axis & Allies game is very different from the boardgame, attempting as it does to take the franchise into an RTS direction, just as they've been trying to take the boardgame franchise in new directions with products like A&A: Guadalcanal.

As for playing the classic boardgame on the computer, Hasbro Interactive tried coming out with a true computer version of classic A&A in the 90s (actually there were two releases, A&A and A&A: Iron Blitz), but it suffered from a slew of bugs and brain-dead AI. I bet the people who brought us The Political Machine and The Corporate Machine could do a bang-up job with a new and improved version of this game, if they had the opportunity and inclination.

It's really not something we'd be interested in working on.
