Need Help.

some info is needed.

Hello everybody!

I don't know, is this the right place, where I can ask things like this, but anyway:
the task for me is to mask Windows Vista Ultimate as Home Premium - change Logon screen (the easiest job for me), change text strings into System Properties.

Is it possible? (changing strings), and generally - mask Ultimate as Home Premium.

Thank You!

No, you think? Just by changing the logon screen, which is on for how long, a second or two. :NOTSURE:

Oh, and what a nice nick also.

that is not like this. I just had my PC with Home Premium in it, everything was OK, but I was unable to recover it with Recovery partition, or with anything else. Recovery partition is still OK, but I thought it would be easier to install it from DVD. I don't have problems with my mom or dad, but I could have problems if some of the government come to inspect this PC, because it is like for the coorporation..

Hard to explain, but still - any ideas How I can do it?

Which is it, your own home PC or the corporation/governments PC. If the later, why are you trying to fix yourself, get IT to fix it.

You could laugh of course.
I Live in Latvia - that's not really government, but some kind of organisation, that inspects coorporations and their work.

One day,dad bought PC, as for his coorporation. We keep it @ home. shit happened, I couldn't recover it. Just need some help - As I see, I wouldn't get it here.

So just tell Dad and be done with it. What's the problem? Another teenager screws up, big deal. So you were not as smart as you thought. You are more than likely going to make a bigger mess of it.  :NOTSURE:

That's not the point. I'm not afraid of my dad,

But your dad is the one who would have problems as it is his computer for work.

If you had Home Premium and it became broken, you should reinstall that.  That would fix your problem.  Perhaps your parents can help get a new recovery CD.

Asking a friend (and most people at Wincustomize are friends) to help you do something wrong (such as hiding what version of an OS you are using without a license that you paid for) is wrong.

Okay, then don't help me hide my installation, but how to get it back? - do you know?

Cavan1 - you got it right. And so, I don't want my dad to have problems. :)

If I download new, Vista installation with Home Premium, would it work with my Produck Key?

It depends on the build.  And it's not like you can really trust a pirated copy, can you?

What happens with teh recovery CD when you try to use it?

alterator, see now that really wasn't all that bad was it?

Now, lets start from the beginning. Your father brings home a computer from work.

While someone was using it something happened.

Okay now as best as you can remember what went wrong?

Have you in fact downloaded another version of Vista? I hope the answer is no. You don't want to do that because serial numbers will not match up with the OS that was loaded on the computer. Remember we are trying to keep Dad from having problems.

I am not going to suggest to you that you do anything, that is other then explain to your father what happened. I know you will not want to do this. He will be upset, and maybe even mad. He will though appreciate your honesty more.

It's hard to believe it but all adults where once your age. You think you make mistakes.

If there is a recover partition on the hard disk drive than possibly you are okay. Someone may have taken the time to do that just in case something happened, which did.

Now come back with some answers and maybe we can give some advise.
