Bonuses on Terraformed Tiles

I think it would be nice to have a small chance of getting a bonus tile when terraforming. I remember how cool it was in Civ to complete a mine and find a new iron or gold resource. It's good old intermittent reinforcement, great for making things more interesting.

I had thought about this previously but had never mentioned it. I agree that this would be nice. I never played anything but the original Civilization game and the resources there were all in a defined pattern that allowed you to only get a max of four resources in any city.

This pattern allowed you to predict where resources would show up in cases of grasslands where a resource was a single shield. However IIRC you could mine grasslands on a resource square into a forest with game and then irrigate the forest to become plains with horses. Nothing more fun than seeing that game icon pop out of an otherwise mundane grassland.

I bet we're not alone here. "We" being the folks who asked themselves this good question but never got around to typing it.

I'll raise the OP's feature request by asking that if such a change ever happens, the math should favor larger planets. Unless there's a good backstory line about why it is so comparatively easy to find Precursor relics on worlds that can never be terraformed beyond class 10 or so? Maybe they were small-town people at heart...

I'd love to get bonuses on those planets that start out at Class 4 and end up being Class 18 when fully terraformed.

@Mumblefratz: I wore out my Civ2 tech tree poster looking up all the different irrigation/engineering effects on the special resources :D

Easy: Home star is no longer a main sequence star and has changed planetary conditions, global warming due to planet abuse/neglect, asteroid impact, Depletion of natural resources, nuclear holocaust... lots of good stuff here  :CONGRAT:
