The worst of the physical withdrawl should be over now!!

Oh I think you would be surprised how long it takes to get anywhere near feeling any better than day one.. 3 days in, I want one more than ever...

However, I am about 15 bucks richer than I would have been and damnit, I'm gonna beat this thing.

Day 3 - 7pm ..

Smoke Free.  :D

hey V man, hang in there mate, giving up smoking is probably one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. keep in your mind all the good things that will come out of it.

1 you get your sense of taste back
2 you will live longer
3 you will save money
4 your clothes wil no longer stink of smoke
5 those annoying nicotine stains on your fingers will disappear
6 the proud feeling you will get from having achieved something so difficult

good luck bro, i hope it all works out for you

This along with really wanting to quit, I mean really wanting too. I'm 52 soon to be 53 and I started smoking in the 3rd grade. I've tried many different ways/types to quit but I was never able to until I finally decided it was something I needed to do. I have smoked a cigarette in over a year now and I don't want one either. You can do it if and when you are really ready to quit. Good Luck and don't stop trying.  :CONGRAT:

A bowl o' Breakfast Butts, every morning. Start the day off right! Add whipping cream and sugar...yum! Don't let 'em get soggy, tho :(

Day 4 - 11:20am...as i chew on a couple of dinner mints...all is well.. really isn't 1% easier, perhaps even harder than at first but.. all is well.

Still smoke free.  :HOT:

Good to hear you are still smoke free. As has been said before what you are going through is the natural progression of giving up smoking.

You find yourself thinking more about what you are doing, giving up smoking, when you smoked you probably didn't think to much about smoking until you decided to give it up.

Get your mind on something else, this is where someone might suggest that you get a hobby, but you are a Master Skinner, gee I wonder what one could do.  ;)

Go, John! Hang in there, Giz...
Pretty soon you'll get disgusted at the way the car smells and clothes after sitting in a room with smokers. Day 4: :SURPRISED: X-( Mild inattentiveness, occasional crossing of eyes, searching pockets for lighter, arm-twitching and fumbling at shirt pocket during phone calls, apres-sex, apres-food, when the wind changes...
something to think about!

Gawd! I think about that, I'll hide in a sensory-deprivation chamber for hours!
I haven't smoked a cigarette in over a year now and I don't want one either.

That's how it's done!  :CONGRAT:

Mild inattentiveness??

Severe.

Well, one side effect Philly is serious loss of the ability to concentrate. I'm trying to work but its a bit frustrating, gonna start working out tommorrow before I turn into a pork barn.  X-(

One of life's lessons, bad habits are easy to pick up, rather hard to get rid of.  (:(

Oh, and yes, lets not turn into a pork barn!

Chuck Norris would never quit smoking.

He'd destroy all the cigs in the world.  Then he'd burn teh tobacco fields.  Then he'd blow up all the manufacturign sites.  If he were bored by then he might let the owners live . . but I doubt it.

Be.  Chuck.  Norris.

(worst effort yet  -  sorry)

Or it may be called 'Hanging for a Camel'... and the accompanying docks will have little puffs of smoke as they hide off-screen.

Speaking of little puffs of smoke, I disabled those on my CursorXP Plus cos I couldn't bear to see them on my screen and not try to inhale.... must've looked rather silly with my lips sucking up against the monitor.

All jokes aside, you guys are doing great and I'm really pleased for you. Those first few days are the hardest, and remaining smoke free is a credit to you both... to everyone trying to quit. Keep up the good work and you'll not be sorry. :)

OMG haha... hey thanks Starkers, the continued encouragement is appreciated more than you all may know..

This morning, found a half a cig in an ashtray someone had left... I picked it up.. walked back in my room.. picked up my lighter... then screamed... and threw the bloody thing in the toilet..I think maybe that was a small victory for me.. was incredibly difficult to do but I'm glad I can say.. I didn't light it.  X-(

Day 5 - 9:10 feeling rough, very lightheaded... but still..

Smoke Free !!  :CONGRAT:

How is everyone else doing? Not seeing many updates  :NOTSURE:

Congrats John and all who continue on this path, such a great way to start the year.

One of the really neat things about not smoking, is that you get to continually re-live for yourself the rewards of this decision.....whether it's the daily stuff, health, money, not having to worry about long plane trips or trying to find a smoking area when you're out etc... or the yearly stuff, like National No-Smoking days that you no longer worry about.

It's not about feeling smug, it's just realising that after all those years of trying, you stuck with it and came through for yourself.

Keep it up - I'm rooting for ya.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet but some other rewards you will be receiving in the near future is gaining back the ability to smell (no not body odor). You probably never noticed that was affected by smoking. Also wait until your taste buds come back and you can really savor the fine taste of things like fresh fruit.

Well, it's not all that exciting, but you will notice.  ;)
but you will notice.

Still waiting on that, it's not like i've ever felt like things tasted bland.. but who know's maybe it'll improve.. My room sure smells better  :D

Alright John, you've given me the motivation to give it a go again...as soon as I finish what I've got...stupid ingrained "waste not want not".

Put my ashtrays in the blue box & they took them. Been smoking outside in -17C weather has been very good motivation. Will let you know when my first cig free day is and I'm crying myself to sleep and sucking my thumb. ;)
