Nice work!! Any possible chance of BSG being included in this mod?
Indeed this looks to be a nice mod :D
Yep - BSG is on its way in as well as other popular sci-fi, basically the mark is we need to at least have ships able to represent the races.

Remember, this is really really early in its development, so we are counting on everyone playing it to let us know if you run into any problems or see anything that makes it unplayable! :-)

hey renfl you asked me for some help on the star trek mod but you never contacted me but if I knew that you making this mod I would have made stuff for it instead it looks like more fun.But heres what I have sofar 7 new startrek starbases all the events have changed to be based on everyrthing star trek plus 15 new planet improvements. If you want replie here and ill change it to suit this mod instead.based on everyone of those shows.

OMG... you can actually better your mods beyond whatever i could do all by my lonely self!!

Which is to say that a "combo" package is really an excellent idea. I'd be much interested into the manual (or mod-guide)... even if it were just as a stand-alone download. Since any sort of primer on modding tricks is rare enough, even here.

Right now its just about how to use the mod, its going to be expanded upon in the next release to show how to use the minors as majors and opponents really easily...we are in the progress of a "how to" for modding that includes tips and good programs. Right now though I believe MacMatt has some over at I-Mod for the time being, as well as I think Korx is working with someone else on making a program that will help mod everything.

Believe me, i WILL wait for any 3rd/party tools or utilities to ease the process of modding HUGE packages and using different methods.
The type of things cariElf did with DL... but maintained and regularly updated with DA/TA features is some important stuff which would certainly help a lot of modders-to-be while providing a quick primer on the essentials for anyone else.

Take the X-Worlds' Bonus folder into which i inserted the very first reference sheet of data. I NEEDED that to properly define the many custom races colors, i WANTED it to plan a reasonably fair set of 10 new political parties, i HAD to figure the exact relational factors between any & all of the default races' abilities. So i made the file, and shared it with others.

In the meantime, i keep developping the rest of many things - the hard way. Which isn't that tough after all, cuz learning is everything when one thinks about a "perfected" (aka, playable!) MOD from the users' pov.

Still a bug is a bug. And without good reference and exact design steps, anyone may need to work on something for weeks instead of hours or even minutes to obtain expected results.

I will certainly grab meself the TA expansion if only to enjoy the provided genuine SD set of "utilities". Just imagine designing a whole campaign with a number of scenarios (challenging or "good" enough to played by anyone, btw!) **WITHOUT** a real map-editor. Many other areas need such tools for proper modding.

Knowing that TA will possibly be the last expansion for GC and won't be followed by other major versions within the next two to three years, i think MODS will become the exhaust solution for many players.

Thus, some good development assets will be essential for a long time to come.

Yeah, they thought that part out, putting them in at their last expansion pack will help keep the game going until GC3 as long as good mods come out, and with Star Trek, Ultimate Sci Fi, X Worlds, Transformers, Star Gate, Babylon 5, The Race mod by gauntlet, i'm sure it'll pan out well.

and thats a excellent point, i've learned a lot from modding around myself, but its amazing how many times i've found a solution to a problem i had by loading up another mod and seeing how it works,

I tried playing this mod with both the Borg and the starship enterprise races. Neither of them had templates for basic ships such as Colony and Constructor. When I tried to use the shipyard to make the templates, the components were missing.

Yes, I deleted my "/documents/mygames/g2darkavatar" directory before installing the game. Did I misinterpret the install instructions?

What did I do wrong?

In addition to my existing tutorials, I hope to have this sort of thing on the I-Mod wiki as well at some point. Being a wiki, of course, means anyone can contribute :) .

Hurry up! I, for one, should need/want anything anybody at anytime anyhow can provide.

I went to I-Mod a few weeks back and D/L'd stuff but couldn't actually make the GALCIV2IDE program to work as expected. Might be a Net/Framework (latest patches, XPro/SP2, etc) issue on my system, though.

Even the other utility GALACTOPEDIA can't load the DA technos without borking up the DL side of things. I'll eventually try to fix it "somehow", but i think the original author no longer supports or develops that wonderful data/info tool. Think of TA numerous unique tech/trees... people WILL need all the reference programs they can get.
Which, btw, reminds me about a personal project i should seriously work on, also. A sort of visual-techno gizmo research interface, i've been meaning to start coding in VBX5. (Inspired basicly by another similar addon created for cEvo... you can find it here Re_Search -- if you're simply curious about my intentions on a GC/DL-DA-TA corresponding utility, almost.)

In the meantime, it's back to continue drawing the whole 39x5(!+!) planets to be integrated within X-Worlds 05-D. And, UFOD/TFTD/APOC TacticInvasions as planned. ;)

Signed up with the host source, but said I had to be approved before full access. Could you check with them and see what the delay is, since I did this several days ago!? I would appreciate any help. Looking forward to trying this one out! Thanks!

Er... hello.

Hmmm? Oh, no, nothing to post here. I'm just waiting for some friends to pick me up and take me to the airport.

I hope It's a big jet and I get a window seat. And not over the wing, I hate that.

This may be a little bit out of place, but would any of you guys working on the "Ultimate Sci-Fi mod" be willing to help out with "The Bringers of Light"?...especially if any of you can texture. that's one the one position we really need to fill.
