What's your favorite Star Trek episode? (any series)

What's your favorite Star Trek episode? (any series)

For me, any one that involves the Mirror Universe, particularly In a Mirror, Darkly
of Enterprise. My mouth dropped open when Zefran Cockram (or Z.C., as I like to call him) killed the Vulcan, and I almost cheered when the Defiant destroyed the Avenger.

Now my fellow Trekkies, tell us your favorite episodes!

Only one rule here: No flaming other posters because they like a series or episode you don't.

How can you not like a show with characters like Seven-of-Nine? The holographic doctor was also a hoot!

Seriously, the show was able to break free of many of the conventions forced on the other series because they were away from Federation space and no longer constricted by Starfleet regulations. Freedom to include all kinds of character flaws (which makes them interesting). Since the crew couldn't just be replaced with a more "fit" crew member they are forced to deal with each other in interesting ways. Plus the show was going somewhere, had a purpose -- to get home.

I don't know how people can dislike voyager or DS9 either. Like you said, it isn't the same story and plot as it was with the others.

I like many episodes, first great that comes to my mind is in Voyager, when doctor was brought to trial on one planet about 600 years in the future. They showed evil warship Voyager with very powerful weaponry, they were bombarding their planet with some nasty toxins or something. What I liked the most: Voyager crew had black leather gloves! :D

Alright, i can say i've been a huge fan of those series as a whole. So in no particular order and by using a swifty scan of some darn good memories... all i can come up with are these;

Top of the list...
1) TOS: The Devil in the Dark (Hortas!)
2) TNG: Remember me. (Don't mind kiddy Wesley, it's just the bubble concept that is truly amazing.)
3) DS9: ShadowPlay (Intriguing, but quite a ride)
4) VOY: Dragon's Tooth (Absolutely great FX)
5) ENT: Never had a chance to see any episodes from this one!

Secondly...

1) TOS: Arena (Gorn-Ss'alk meets makeshift chemicals combo through a cannon barrel.)
2) TOS: The Doomsday machine (Classic showdown and Kirk's slick escaping tactic)
3) TNG: Skin of Evil (How Tasha Yar died, in glory)
4) TNG: Q Who (Well, here comes the Borgs & YOU will all be assimilated.)
5) TNG: Brothers (The evil side of Data.)
6) VOY: EndGame (Both I&II are quite the tear jerker - if you really understood the entire Delta quadrant premise)

Yup, that just about sums it up.

My favorite episodes usually have Q in them or the Borg or in some lucky cases both. With TNG being the favorite series followed by TOS.

Bingo! Q rules! Encounter at farpoint started the TNG series off and ended with All good things, with the series beginning and ending with Q. :) I wish they would make a TNG movie with Q in it.

"Darmok and Jilad"

At Tanagra! When then walls fell!

A tie between "Remember Me" and "Sub Rosa", both rare Beverly episodes.

Well, I am going to be the one who stands up, and says it.

I liked Star Trek: Voyager.

"A Private Little War"

Best Next Generation:

"The Defector"
-If these men do not die well, it will be a black matter for the king

"Parallels"
-best part: the Enterprise that is one of the last ships left in a galaxy overrun by the Borg

"Relics"
-the Dyson Spere is awesome

"Yesterday’s Enterprise"
-Let us make sure that history never forgets, the name, Enterprise

"The Lower Decks"
-unusually good cinematography

Best DS9:

"Captive Pursuit"

"Visionary"
-Best of the torment O'brien genre, with "Whispers" as a close second

"Concerning Flight"
-Galileo is so cool!

“Child's Play”
-I never saw the ending coming

"Message in a Bottle"
'Damnit I'm a doctor not a commando' haha

-agree with Zyxpsilon, great FX

"Hope and Fear"
-When you help the Borg, there are consequences

Best Enterprise:

I haven't seen them all yet, but I liked the ark with "Borderland", "Cold Station 12", and "The Augments."

there is alot I love but what comes to mind right aways is

TOS Ballance of Terror
TNG Yesterday's Enterprise, and oh my god I can't believe I forget the name. It's the first cliff hanger where the Borg kidnap Picard. At the end of the first part one, I was jumping at the edge of my seat yelling NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I can't wait till September to see what happens. I was a bit disapointed how part II started but the episode was ok.

I also love the show that happened after it, Family anthour favorite of mine.

The first 2 part borg episode. You know, that episode was really ground breaking for ending a season with a cliff hanger. It had been done before (Dallas with the who shot JR episode), been the success of that 2 parter caused the abundance of cliffhanger endings we see today.

Best of Both Worlds, it just hit me lol. Boy I loved the first one.

Yesterday's Enterprise.

Doomsday

Balance of terror

Family

A few Deeps Space Nine but I don't remeber the names.

Didn't care much for Voyeger, but after seeing them months ago again, I am appreciating it more now for some reason, and Enterprise I didn't watch much.

I loved Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan IV the Voyage Home, V the undiscovered country. I know much didn't like this one but the graphics sucked but it was more character driven witch i liked. VII Generations the one with Kirk coming back. Read the book and the book gave more detail but still loved the movie.

I was very upset with the last one X Nemisis. It didn't feel like a Star Trek movie at all.

I have no idea how to take the new Star Trek Academy or what ever it's called. Spock and Kirk were never at the academy together, so it looks like all the Star Trek lore is out the window now.

-DS9 would really suck without Garak

I agree.

One of the best movies was ST VI "The undiscovered Country". Of the newer ones "First Contact" is quite good. "Nemesis" was ok but it was not like traditional Star Trek.

By the way does any of you have bought a Star Trek series on DVD. I mean the price is ridicolus. Now I have seen new Slimline Edition for about 22 EUR per season (amazon.co.uk). In Germany they still want the double price.

My favorite would have to be DS9's "In the Pale Moonlight." That was easily the most morally ambiguos Star Trek episode ever made.... ever. That, and it also showed how totally awesome (wickedly manipulative) Garrack can be at times.

Movie?
V'Ger and the absolutely amazing sequence where NCC slowly hovers above the giant blue-like-blurring-Yes/Fragile/Album-type-of-ship beats everything i've ever seen in ANY Sci-Fi stuff.

Considering that particular Motion-Picture had to compete with Star-Wars/4 that same summer, it goes without saying that Trek's afficiniados(sp?) really faced tough odds for popularity or potential ticket sales! Which doesn't change the fact it still was a great ride, back then. ;)

And... Kirk yelling **KHAN** is no small cinematic moment either!

Here's a link that I'm excited about, I'm you have all seen it:
Star Trek Tour
Maybe some of us Star Trek fans at Stardock should make the trip when it hits Michigan, no?
So excited. If it will be anything like the X-Files Expo was, it will be sweet.

Sorry but after some verification, what i meant was that SW/ESB-5 released within 6 months in May'80! And that the first ST/Motion-Picture (Dec'79) was "sandwiched" between two of most successful Lucas' classics.
