SharkPit, Goodnight Earth, Copper Pool and Blissful Dream get the same upper half screen pixellated corruption. Practically everything else works fine, such as AlienRayBlue, Bouncing Box, Christmas Twinkling, Corpuscule, Comet DeepImpact, Puublehil, notastargate, midnight moon, nanosuite.

I'm running a NVIDIA 8800 GTS SLI system on an Alienware Core 2 system with a 680i Mobo and 2 GB Ram. Given the appearance of the corruption, I had initially assumed it was some issue with SLI, but it does the same thing in all the differnt SLI modes, and even with the SLI off. I have downloaded and installed codec pack updates. All my games, including Crysis, run beautifully. All the suggested nvidia Vista hotfixes have been installed. Latest 163.75 drivers.

Stardock says it a Dreamscape "rendering" problem and I should contact Microsoft. There MUST be a simpler answer to this. I have a fairly common setup without any unusual drivers or hardware.

This is an issue with DreamScene as all video .dream files are sent to DreamScenes for rendering. (Hence why you have to have this installed as a prerequisite to using video .dream files with DeskScapes).

Try installing another MPEG-2 codec. Here's an example of one:

I remember having a problem like this, and I turned off some filters in the Windows Movie Maker options. Fixed my problem.

Open Windows Movie Maker > Tools > Options > Compatibility tab > Uncheck the filters

We're on to something here! The Movie Maker idea didn't seem to have an effect, but the "Stinky" mpeg-2 codec now has everything working except Blissful Dreams. Does anybody have a favorite codec like to share that might help?

Thanks so far.

Update, I dl'd DScaler Mpeg codec and it now works. Looks like it wasn't Microsoft's fault after all.
