Earth and other Sol system things

Could be in sins?

I'm not done with the others. The next one should be Mars! Then Venus and I plan to do Io, Titan, and Pluto.

This is all basic stuff. Multi sent me the link to how to do this (I got 3dsmax today).

If anyone knew how to get these into sins that'd be kewl.

EDIT: Made with 3dsmax btw.

EDIT 3:
Heres another video

EDIT 4:
Mars = fixed.

EDIT 5:
Slower this time lol

Fine mister smarty pants! I'll change the topic title!

Technically its a planetoid.

nice! your moon, however, is crashing into earth.

Well, you would just need to use the mesh editor. The rest is text file editing.

no doubt some grand company will chase you down for stealing their rights to the Earth ;p

They prefer the term 'dwarf planet' thankyouverymuch.

I'll try to save it as a file that the mesh editor can read, after I'm done rendering another video ;)

I can't save it as a 3ds file thinggy. Technically this is 4 different objects (earth, clouds, atmosphere, and moon). Know how to make it a file that it can read? GRR wheres a pro from IC when you need them? Nobody answered my mars issues either (I might know how to fix it).

Bump update.

yay looks fun. Can't wait to see if you can get these in sins 'specially mars!! (when it's fixed!)

Mars is now fixed.

I'm having issues with Mar's atmosphere! Anyone know how to make it so that the right side is like the left? I can't fix this till tomorrow afternoon (Bed, and school. And I have a paper I should work on tomorrow )

You need to make a fitting texture outside of max. Use any picture editing software you have for that.

Well, you would just need to use the mesh editor. The rest is text file editing.

Actually there are some problems with your mesh converter and planet meshes. Probably because of the night texture the planet file uses.

At least it often crashed ingame a lot when I included my moded planets, it only worked with some of them.

Also space elevators won't work properly then. Planet meshes seem to need an entry for it's radius. :NOTSURE:

You should remove the atmosphere and clouds, Sins handles this seperately. You can keep the moon, though'll have a fixed rotation then. Don't try to use too many materials though, or you could get problems with the mesh converter.

Will do! Although it looks kewl with the clouds and atmosphere (:(

EDIT: Tried it. I can only save it as a .max or .chr, both of which are not supported by the mesh editor. How do I save it in a format it can read?

EDIT AGAIN: I did it lol. That little export button worked. So now I save it as a mesh file and...? I think I need to read that topic again lol

EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: Ummm...wut? So...some one wanna walk me through or give me your email and you can do it?

Export it as a .3ds or .obj file with max. Use code herders mesh editor to convert them to mesh. Don't forget to add your textures to the materials and copy the created .dds files (the textures and stuff) to the textures folder and the .mesh file into the mesh folder of Sins.

If it works, be surprised. ;)

I'm guessing planets need to have some special type of emitters. I'll have a look see soon. I'm working on having sins .mesh files imported back into my editor. That way I can re-save them into .mesh and see if there's any issues.

That would be really great. :CONGRAT:

Technically, Io and Titan were NEVER planets.

If they didn't orbit the gas giants then they would be big enough to be considered planets. Eventually Earth will be a double system like Pluto and its moon.

BTW slower vid up :CONGRAT:

Bump and I need help.

I deleted the other terran's meshinfo lines in the gameinfo file for terranplanethome and terranplanet.

Well, the code I did half worked I suppose.

The moon is there too!

Anyone know how to get this to normal planet size? BTW, the blue arua is about the size of a resource 'roid.

EDIT:

ok, new error. I remade the mesh file and upped the scale x10 in all ways.

It obviously wasn't big enough. But its not in the atmosphere AND its dark (the star is directly behind the camera in one of those screens).

I took this photo of Mars last night from my garden in UK, you can use it as a texture if you like  :HOT:

Just a guess, your model is not centered on the 0,0,0 axis?

Guess not... you mean in 3dsmax? No lol, I didnt think it mattered. Lemme see if I can center it, I dunno if I can/how.

Awesome picture dude! Sadly enough textures need to be more detailed and be able to wrap around the whole sphere.

what about those sattelite pictures? could you cut and shrink those, pretty sure theres a stitched one available.

That one picture where the planet isn't the right size looks kinda cool.

These are the textures I used for Earth, Mars, And the moon.

Still too small, and its dark all the ways around (but it has that small light part on the edge, it rotates as I rotate the camera). Know how to fix this?

Once I get this fixed I'm moving on to Mars (I'll upload this to Sin.bz too!)
