Picture

I am making anouther map
(a realy wierd one)

and when you chose a map to play in sins, it shows a small picture. (Assuming I have a picture) how would I attach it too my new map, so if someone was to see it, then a picture would come up (just like the rest of the maps)?

Looks like you'll need a tool to convert image files into the texture pack.

Thumbnail previews for the stock sins maps are in the sins textures folder. They are 169x105 pixel .TGA files that are named like this: ScenerioPicture-"your map name here".tga

In your map files look for the line that says browsePictureName "" and insert your maps name between the parenthasis. Make sure it starts with ScenerioPicture-.

Look at other.galaxy files for an example.

You'd have to create the graphic, then drop it in another folder, then place the filename inside the map file.

Is thier anyway to convert BMP to TGA?

Becouse I have sucsesfully got a white picture to apear when I click on the map. (not what I want, but it is making progress)

so, last step is to get a converter, anyone know of one?

I got one, not very good, but it does what I want.

kk, I converted it to TGA, made the picture the right size, changed the name, put the line into the map itself....

.....AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!!!!!

interestingly enough, if I add a .TGA to the end of the name on the picture, instead of showing nothing, it shows a white picture.

BUT I DON'T WANT A WHITE PICTURE!!!!!

devs?
*appear now and tell me the secret*

Irfan View will convert images to most formats (even dds)
Irfan View

You can also use Gimp. TBH i would get photoshop if you really want to edit the images right.

TGA's are layered images like DDS. The white image may be because you saved the alpha layer on top of the color layer. There is no special trick to this. If your image editor can view layers then it is pretty self explanatory to fix.

....

My image editor is paint shop.....

I simply take a picture of a map (in sins) get it too the correct pixal size. Use my very simple converter to put in TGA, then save it the file I need too.

And I can view the picture just fine in my picture viewer program I have. That came with some digital camera I got a while back....

It's hard to tell what the problem is. My custom pictures always worked. :NOTSURE:

You could upload the picture you want and I would then take a look at it. Would make it much easier to find out the problem. :)
