How do I install a clear Vista theme on XP?

I want a clear regular Vista theme for XP is there a way I can apply a new clear theme by changing system files or adding a theme to Resources/Themes, not just skinning it with programs like WindowBlinds? I mean, I don't want to pay for it to use it I just want to know how I can change the XP theme into a normal clear Vista theme like the Vista Ultimate theme..

This kind of theme is what I'm looking for:

Kinda lame coming here to the site who's software you see as lame asking for help to hack your system too. We use Windowblinds here to customize our systems....not hacks.

He, he, he, he, he....

First, you need a video card/subsystem that supports hardware accelerated per pixel alpha blending.

Second, you'll need WindowBlinds.

Third, you'll need a WindowBlinds skin which utilizes perpixel borders/frames.

I'd be very surprised if you found a way to get something that looks anything like your screenshot on an XP rig without those 3 steps. If you can achieve that for less than the cost of WindowBlinds, more power to ya.

Come here with a different attitude and sure, we'll point you in the direction of some system hacks..........which are exactly what they are 'hacks'.........

Guys . . there's nothing wrong with trying to find alternative ways of accomplishing a goal.

Promaster, I think you'll find that the developers of Windowblinds have taken customization of windows further than many of the system hacks you may find.  It's well worth the money.  (and the community, when not trying to hang people [Leo, Giz . . shame on you ) can be very helpful.

Good luck finding something that does what you want.  If you find it, please post it here so future searchers may gain from your search.

promaster 12, we'd help you with anything here but when someone 'trots' onto a forum and and uses the word 'lame' in the way you do and then makes a comment about the speed of the servers then you are going to get some 'attitude' back........You are welcome here but please show everyone here some respect and we will do likewise

Zu.......You are having a laugh, man. You know my father bought me up to show respect and to use good manners but I guess that does not count for anything nowadays

Look sometimes the explorer takes so long to load in this site and I've been searching for days and days on finding out how to make it clear..

Leo . . good point.  I should have commented on the original post.

Promaster . . you really did start off on the wrong foot.  Criticizing the app that this site is centered on is poor form as is commenting on the crappiness of the site (there should be a rule that you need to be a subscriber before you can complain )  We are a forgiving bunch and we welcome those that are respectful.

promaster12, yep I know what you mean about the site loading a bit slow. It does that sometimes. As far as getting the 'visual effect' you want it's very tricky as Daiwa explains. There is a piece of customizing software called something like 'True Transparancy' or similar which may get you close but I have never tried it or know anyone who has used it

promaster12, A lot of people start customizing their PC's via MSsytles via a UXtheme patcher which is a free method. There are several tutorials over at NEOWIN which can help you.

I have already patched my uxtheme dll but I can't find any msstyle themes with clear windows
Reply #19 Top
Your not going to find any. .Msstyle doesn't natively support translucency.

Its a shame you can't buy WindowBlinds....you would absolutely love it.
