The ObjectDesktop software works fine. From your previous postings and this one it appears that your computer operating system and setup has gone wrong.  This has nothing to do with Stardock products and the advice previously given of having your computer looked at by a service technician (or a knowledgeable friend) and getting the operating system issues resolved first, then installing the ObjectDesktop applications one at a time and making sure each is performing as expected, is the best way to go.

one external, and the external has all the backed up data.

so why can't you plug this in and recover from this drive if it's fully backing up your computer ?

it is plugged in, but i do not know how to recover what is in there, being a complete beginner, have tried but to no avail.

When you do get it fixed take it slowly just do one thing at a time make sure thats working correctly before you start on something new. It's very easy to mess it up. A lot harder to sort out what you have done and correct it.

Daygo - at this point I am in agreement - get someone to look at it. If there is a good restore on your drive you don't want to lose it. It is very hard to troubleshoot the kind of problem that you have without sitting at the keyboard.

It sounds as if you do have some access to your drives if you were able to get on the Internet. With this, an experienced tech may be able to help you a lot.

Aong with the above suggestion I would also check out you local public library or community center and see if they have a bulletin board where clubs are posted. See if there is one for computers, if is always better to talk with folks face to face about common problems.

When you take your PC back to a tech, which you need to do, ask him also if he knows of some computer clubs.

thanks for the help, am going to the library and have contacted both support for object desktop and my computer manufacturer for help, plus get some decent books.

Way to go.

Once you get the hang of the basics of using your computer then you can start to have fun with it. Hope it all works out well and you get to enjoy computing more.
