Well, after the dismall failure of the Star Wars Galaxies Beta I had pretty much given up hope on ever playing that game again. I didn't even bother to buy the game after that bad experience.
One of the things that really turned me off was the Customer Service of Sony Online Entertainment. These are the same CS behind EverQuest and Planetside and I was extremely frightened of having to deal with them again.
Anyhow, I ran across the free 14 day trial on Fileplanet.com and thought. What the hell. I'll give it try. I have had so much fun it's incredible. They have done a lot with that game. I mean A LOT! Still, there was the SOE CS team. I was fiddling with an Entertainer a couple people tipped me just over 50k to help get me started since I was new (This was well before they said anything about the accounts being crippled at a 50k limit) and I lost any credits over 50k. I was a little miffed but oh well. I finished my night playing and decided to bank what I had on hand. I bank my creds and head back to the Cantina. I ended up talking to someone on the way back to the Cantina and they tell me about special Dancer garbs out there. So before I logged out I thought I'd go buy some. Guess what? All my credits are GONE except for what I had before they tipped me. Of course I contact a CS to try and get my credits back. Well to make a very long story short. He informs me that the Trial accounts are Capped (Crippled) and they can not replace the credits. Now from the conversation basically I infered this..... You're not a real customer yet so we will not help you get the credits back. If you had a real paying account, we'd help you. Sorry.
Thing is I only went over the 50k limit by about 3k. Shouldn't the game only take what goes over 3k? Hell no. It takes everything!
Anyhow, besides that little point of serious contention on my part. The CS people are very helpful and all my other experiences in the game have been very good.
Something I've noticed though. There seems to be only two types of people in Star Wars.
1.) Seriously nice people, who like helping and helping you enjoy the world of Star Wars.
2.) Serious diskheads who could give a crap about you unless you get in their way towards Uber Jedi Status.
Fortunately, the second type seems few and far between. But I'll tell you when they show up, they of course make themselves known.
Couples of very cool things when you start the game.
1.) You have a helper droid that appears to walk you through your beginning steps in your chosen profession.
2.) After you do the last of the 4 Tasks/Quests your driod asks you to do you end up with about 2500 Creds, which isn't a whole lot but you can buy some decent armor and a new weapon.
3.) You also get a 5 use speeder bike. Which really helps with doing missions.
I made about 20k in an evening just doing missions. It's fairly easy to make money. The skills are fun. Combat takes a little getting used to but it's pretty fun once you get accustomed to it.
My real copy should be here in a day or two. Officially making me a Real Customer (c). lol
