Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Another great series wwhich ended with a horrible failure was Ultima. I started playing that all the way from Ultima II (on my Apple IIE!), but the last one was so buggy that it was totally unplayable. I think III through VI were the best incarnations of that game.

I absolutely loved Ultima IV. I spent many, many, MANY hours playing it. I loved that the gaming environment seemed absolutely gigantic. You could literally sail around the world. Okay, yeah, the graphics (especially by today's standards) sucked, but what a rich game.

Yeah, the huge Ultima world was always one of the best aspects of those games. I think it was in Ultima III, you could sneak around the side of Lord British' castle inside the moat, commandeer a pirate ship, then sail on the moat back around the castle and bombard him with cannons. This is the only way I could figure out how to possibly kill him!    I think that the general trend in games today is to focus too much on the graphics and not enough on game-play and developing a rich in-depth game world. For example, with GalCiv2, I spend 99% of the game zoomed out to where everything is an icon, and only very rarely zoom in to take a look at the cool grpahics. Sometimes I watch the combat viewer too, but not very often. I dont find much enjoyment in watching virtually the same battle play out a couple hundred times over the course of a long war.

You've got 22k to go to surpass him....going to take a good effort to do that. I play quick 50-60k games with him frequently. With Hraak-Riit, my 150k point game is 90% complete, so he will soon rise above you once again! ;)

Plans within plans... I have several more conquest to submit. 22k? Ahhh my friend take a closer look, 1k would be more accurate.

I see that the Padishah Emperor is a potent warrior, and not just an empty figurehead, like some emperors... The Kzinti show honor to those who lead from the front of the battle! Perhaps you were born with the heart of a Kzinti? ;) You feel the juices of conquest flowing in your liver as do my ferocious t'kzintar. When we hunt you down we will honor your flesh with a great feast for our Conquest Heroes!

Ahh you do me honor. The Kzinti are indeed noble adversaries. I look forward to the hunt. To return this honor you bestow upon us, we shall hencefore claim the water of all Kzinti we conquer. Their water will been added to our seitch and thereby honor Shai'Hulud.

Bi-lal kaifa, Vukasika. :) We will make many sacrifices to the Fanged God to ensure that very few Kzinti are put into to the death-stills!

My huge game netted 132k, not the 150 I was hoping for. I'm not sure what I did differently from the previous game with the same settings that was 150k. Have to look into the mechanics of the scoring a bit more.

its all about faster and better, even a few weeks at the beginning of the game will make a big difference
Reply #112 Top
That is one thing I could definitely improve at...speed is not my forte. I do think in the previous huge game I played I started with an amazingly good strategic postion and expanded extremely quickly. I was able to grab a very large number of planets in the initial colony rush.

the colony rush is where I tend to run into problems the most; I can win a game fast enough, that's not really an issue. I've managed conquest wins in 0 or 1yrs even in larger maps, but especially in a gigantic map the colony rush may take me 2-3 years, maybe even longer depending on location and the resources available to me. Its the part of my game that I need to work on most.

I like to develop my infrastructure a bit before I go out conquering, so that is the part of my game where I need to speed things up if I want to go for megascores. And I need more RAM! :)

I'm off to a sci-fi/fantasy convention until Monday so I'll be busy playing games, watching movies, and partying for the next few days.  :HOT:

Hey KzintiPatriarch, thought I'd let you know that I have created some new fodder for you :D

I created the Olympian Gods empire yesterday, i have a LONG way to go before I can compete with y'all but to be honest my goal of that empire is to get all the medals lol. I mean, seriously, how long can 1000 games really take?

Of course, I got my start in the ToE and will keep my two other characters (my MVL and my "big" game guys) there but I wanted something separate for my own personal goals.

Just wanted to say let the friendly running for my life from big voracious feline warriors begin

Olympian Gods? Unfortunately for you they were consumed by the Fanged God along with all the other Terran gods when the Kzinti conquered those chattering monkey-people from Earth. But gods are tricky and have ways of coming back when least expected. Competition is always good for it is the best way to cull the weak and unworthy! We wish you well on your medal-quest Fights-With-Words.

That is a definitely a cool idea Silverbeacher! :)

Gaining all the medals is certainly a lofty goal! I wonder what the highest number of games (including legitimate defeats) is that anybody has posted to the MV? I do see from the AltMeta that the character Shaman has 166 games.

Thanks Lorent. :) At the moment I am re-reading some of the Man-Kzin wars, because its been a long time since I first read them. I dont believe I've read any John Ringo, but I'll have my gf check the library for him next time she's there.

Ah, the Kzinti – one of Niven’s finest creations (among many).

I remember the Kzinti mainly for their race in Star Fleet Battles. My drone chuckers were feared throughout the galaxy, particularly with speed 32 drones. My main opponent was a wily Klingon who taunted me with the name Eater of Grass – a vile insult. But I held my tongue until my drones shredded his rear shield and I then pounced with joy with a furious point plank knife fight. Kzinti ships were particularly good at knife fighting. If I failed I went to the Hall of Heros for having died bravely in battle, not like some simpering Federation captain who whines about peace while he charges his overloaded photons. All the Feds were good for is as Big Slow Targets.

My motto during all my SFB campaigns as the Kzinti was: If you don’t attack and overrun, you can’t devour anyone.

It seems oh, so apt.

Congrats to the Kitties.

You now officially have more character members than any other empire.

One of yours?
