Hey guys. I've gone ahead and done the dirty deed -- I've written my own Sins map! ./waits for the screaming / fainting maidens to be taken care of appropriately.

OK, now that thats out of the way, here she be! I hope you enjoy my effort, and this is but the first map -- of many! (I only actually have one other idea that I plan to play around with, but I'm sure I'll come up with new ones...)

WOW that map looks so cool hehe, nicely done

The biggest problem i see with user created maps in sins is that you cant download them online. Which makes it much harder for some ppl

oh and btw, you can also add images with your mod at sins.bz

looks like a nice and big map to play around. those desert planets are going to be such ugly building centres. ouch. plenty of space to place stuff.

I also have a 4 player map design lying around, its much smaller though and a dedicated team map.

*dreads going up against a culture player on that map*

Looks nice, though.. would take a while to finish, but nice! 4 pirate bases much be a bit much though, if they all go after the same player

I wanted the symmetry -- from what I understand, you only get one pirate fleet even with four of them. I hope. Worst comes to worst, I can release V2

There *should* be a copy of that screeny associated with the file -- I just didn't want to waste your bandwidth by placing it here

ooh yeah, now i see it, and dont you worry about the bandwidth

very pretty, my only issue is that the planets are a little bit cramped together, their positions could be a little farther out... but thats not really worth the effort of redoing the coordinates on them all!

Very cool,

Probably true

That said, I am thinking about just doubling it... assuming things work the way I think they do, make it a 200 by 200 grid instead of 100 by 100, and just double all the co-ordinates. Would that work?

Oh, also, btw: I'm already working on a few new ideas -- would you guys prefer a 6 player map, or an 8 player map?

8 player by far.

Woops! Thought someone had posted after me there...

my map editor is almost completed. I say give me 1-2 days to finalise it. It would then take 5 minutes to create a map rather then 2 hours

Damn you! And here I am, "halfway" through the code for a map creation tool -- far inferior to an actual editor. All I have is a text interface that will (eventually... grrr...) take in co-ordinates, type, and connections. And now you have an actual editor (which presupposes a proper GUI, which I don't know how to do) and are making me embarrassed.

Edit: BTW, I'm currently doing a quick play-test of that 8 player map -- fit for 4V4, or 2V2V2V2, or FFA! Edit: Gaaah! Looks like that map is held up indefinitely, while I try and track down an erroneous (and nasty) jump connection.

Ill make a separate thread on my editor just to show what it can do

And release that editor soon! I've got the map-making bug, and I have another map to work on!
